MONDAY MUSINGS NO. 153
Good morning friends, did you have a nice weekend?
Ours was quiet. Friday and Saturday we were supposed to get snow and instead we had icy rain. Not a lot and it was melted by noon. But I was really hoping for some snow, I miss the magical winter snow I grew up with in the Midwest. When we lived in VA we had at least one or two snowfalls a season but since we have moved to NC we haven’t been that lucky.
Yesterday on the way out of mass people were complaining about the cold and counting the days until Spring. It’s only January for goodness sakes. Thankfully, Spring will not be here for a while and I plan on enjoying every minute of hibernation, cozy season.
Aside from that I am leaning into my new Sunday routine or relaxing, reading and “doing nothing.” By that I mean no work, no cleaning, no social media, no blogging, etc. What do you do on Sundays?
Ok, enough about me, tell me about your weekend and then let’s move on to 5 things!
1.READ~

Overjoyed at Maryanne’s engagement, amateur sleuth Sophie Katz can’t wait for the wedding vows and party toasts to begin. But then Dena—best friend, bridesmaid and all-around vixen—is mysteriously shot just after the announcement. Leave this to the authorities? No way. Dena may never walk again, and Sophie vows to marry her fists with the shooter’s face.
Problem is, the number of suspects is off the charts—from jaded lovers to anti-free-lovers to just plain old haters. Dena’s made plenty of enemies thanks to her popular sex shop—and, yes, she’s no saint—but really, who deserves to be shot?
With an überlogical almost boyfriend condemning her vigilante quest, and a wedding planner going vicariously bridezilla over the dream princess wedding, Sophie’s barely thinking straight. But if she can keep her cool (and avoid all errant taffeta), she just might nab her man and save the (wedding) day.

On My Radar

Love your blog. I live in the Bay Area so we don’t get snow, but we can drive to the Sierras a few hours away to get a snow fix!
It was 70 yesterday so I went to the nursery and planted my “cold” herb garden, parsley, chives, chervil, etc., pansies. The narcissus and hyacinths are popping up already.
I like the idea of low key Sundays, we take hikes and cook, extended family dinners for whomever is around. We don’t have kids but nieces and nephews, in-laws live close by.
Sometimes, pop up happy hours in the front yards with neighbors. Looking forward to clock change! I’m a spring lover all the way!
Valletta,
The Bay Area is beautiful! And even better the you can drive a few hours to have a bit of winter and snow.
I was just reading this morning about asparagus and artichokes needing to be planted now, not in the spring. I had no idea that parsley, chives, cheveril were cold weather herbs. I have to take a look at my zone and see what I a supposed to be planting at this time. After the house projects are finished we are having some landscape redone that too a beating when the tree fell on the house.
My step-choldren and grands live in the Midwest so we do not get to see them weekly, that would be a treat. Thankfully friends and my sister and brother live close by and we do the same as you, cook and have low key dinners.
Pop up happy hour! I love that! I think I will add that to my warm weather activity list!
HAve a very happy new year and a wonderful week.
Thank you, you too!! Thanks for all the work that you do putting together this wonderful site! It’s appreciated 🙂
Valletta, THANK YOU! That is very kind of you to say and I appreciate it.
Have a wonderful week.
I saw that movie years ago and enjoyed it.
Happy New Year William.
It is an old movie but a good one.
Hello Elizabeth,
You posted a recipe for stuffed pork tenderloin a few days back and I can’t now find it anywhere! Please help if you can.
Your posts cheer my mornings no end, many thanks…
