MONDAY MUSINGS

Good morning friends. How was your weekend?

Ours was busy and a lot of fun. We spent much of the weekend with family both in person and on FaceTime. Saturday we went through old family photos and and boxes and reminisced about days gone by.

Sunday everyone got together to watch the Chiefs play Minneapolis. We made 2 kinds of chili, lots of appetizers and I made a German chocolate cake. I could have skipped the cake, not because it wasn’t good but because the frosting is my favorite part. I could have eaten the entire pot of frosting. Anyone else a frosting lover?

Today is Indigenous Peoples Day, do you have the day off? I have a bunch of stuff to catch up on so that is my plan for the day.

Next up +5 things.

A Botanists Guide to Parties and Poisons

A Botanist’s Guide to Parties and Poisons

Newly minted research assistant Saffron Everleigh is determined to blaze a new trail at the University College London, but with her colleagues’ beliefs about women’s academic inabilities and not-so-subtle hints that her deceased father’s reputation paved her way into the botany department, she feels stymied at every turn.

When she attends a dinner party for the school, she expects to engage in conversations about the university’s large expedition to the Amazon. What she doesn’t expect is for Mrs. Henry, one of the professors’ wives, to drop to the floor, poisoned by an unknown toxin.

Dr. Maxwell, Saffron’s mentor, is the main suspect and evidence quickly mounts. Joined by fellow researcher–and potential romantic interest–Alexander Ashton, Saffron uses her knowledge of botany as she explores steamy greenhouses, dark gardens, and deadly poisons to clear Maxwell’s name.

Will she be able to uncover the truth, or will her investigation land her on the murderer’s list, in this entertaining examination of society’s expectations?

  1. I want to go watch Dior and I now! I love Raf’s comment “I want it to be dynamitic because I find women very dynamitic”. What a statement! You always have such great things to share, my friend.

  2. It seems a bit early for Christmas decor. Part of the joy of Christmas is the anticipation and seeing the decor around already makes me really grumpy. But I do love it once December arrives.

    1. Lorna, I could not agree more. I just got my pumpkins. Unfortunately, the stuff sells so fast if you don’t buy it early it is gone. I hope that you have a great week.
