Good morning friends, it’s Friday. I am giddy with excitement, last night I slept with my window open for the first time since May. It is not exactly cool and crisp but I’ll take it over the high heat and humidity.
How is the weather by you? Are you gearing up for the hurricane? If so be safe.
Today on Friday Favorites, we have Fall inspired recipes, books, outfits and more so lets’ get to it!

BOOKS

This elegant book presents a chance to experience a classic piece of literature in an all-new way. The Jane Austen Escape Room Book combines the characters that you know and love with the intrigue of mystery as you solve puzzles and riddles to help Elizabeth find her way back to the arms of Mr. Darcy. This thrilling new take on the ever-adored Pride and Prejudice, exquisitely illustrated by Marjolein Bastin, is the perfect gift for the Jane Austen fan in your life!

Weyward
Weaving together the stories of three extraordinary women across five centuries, Emilia Hart’s Weyward is an enthralling novel of female resilience and the transformative power of the natural world.
2019: Under cover of darkness, Kate flees London for ramshackle Weyward Cottage, inherited from a great aunt she barely remembers. With its tumbling ivy and overgrown garden, the cottage is worlds away from the abusive partner who tormented Kate. But she begins to suspect that her great aunt had a secret. One that lurks in the bones of the cottage, hidden ever since the witch-hunts of the 17th century.
1619: Altha is awaiting trial for the murder of a local farmer who was stampeded to death by his herd. As a girl, Altha’s mother taught her their magic, a kind not rooted in spell casting but in a deep knowledge of the natural world. But unusual women have always been deemed dangerous, and as the evidence for witchcraft is set out against Altha, she knows it will take all of her powers to maintain her freedom.
1942: As World War II rages, Violet is trapped in her family’s grand, crumbling estate. Straitjacketed by societal convention, she longs for the robust education her brother receives––and for her mother, long deceased, who was rumored to have gone mad before her death. The only traces Violet has of her are a locket bearing the initial W and the word weyward scratched into the baseboard of her bedroom.

Autumn
Autumn. Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness. Two old friends—Daniel, a centenarian, and Elisabeth, born in 1984—look to both the future and the past as the United Kingdom stands divided by a historic, once-in-a-generation summer. Love is won, love is lost. Hope is hand-in-hand with hopelessness. The seasons roll round, as ever.
Â
A luminous meditation on the meaning of richness and harvest and worth, Autumn is the first installment of Ali Smith’s Seasonal Quartet, and it casts an eye over our own time: Who are we? What are we made of? Shakespearean jeu d’esprit, Keatsian melancholy, the sheer bright energy of 1960s pop art. Autumn is wide-ranging in time-scale and light-footed through histories.

Country Life: Homes of the Catskill Mountains and Hudson Valley
The majestic panoramas, lush vegetation, and bucolic vibe of the Catskill Mountains and Hudson River Valley in upstate New York have long proved irresistible for city dwellers seeking respite from urban life and inveterate country lovers alike. These homes, whether hundreds of years old or brand new, all resonate with their natural surroundings, as each of the 20 houses that photographer William Abranowicz captured for this volume attests.
They range from the historic houses of Thomas Cole and Frederic Edwin Church, quintessential landscape painters of the Hudson River School, to the rustic wood-and-stone house of a dealer of mid-century furniture, art, and jewelry, in which the clean lines of Frank Lloyd Wright side tables and other mid-century furnishings are exuberantly contrasted by vibrant textiles and contemporary ceramics.

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Here are all the details for the outfit of the day: bag//dress//boots//brooch//perfume.
When the cooler weather sets in the colors in my wardrobe lean to black, dark blue, and gray. Aside from my “go to” uniform of a cashmere sweater, t-shirt and jeans I love to pair dresses with boots.
Recently I bought this t-shirt dress from COS and it is going to be one o f my favorite things in my wardrobe this fall. It is soft, looks beautiful on and the asymmetrical hem loos great with boots and shoes.

Fall Finds Home and Decor

Elizabeth, there is no link for the amaretto cheesecake. It looks delicious!
Thanks!
Thank you Kay for letting me know. I have fixed it.
Oh how I love the resignation bridesmaid letter. I am in Australia and can’t understand the American tradition of 6 plus bridesmaids and all the hoopla around the pre wedding celebrations. I got married with just my sister as maid of honour and our little nieces and nephews. Went out for dinner few weeks before the wedding with only close friends. And I paid for the fabric, dressmaker, shoes, hair and makeup for my sister and nieces (sans makeup), that is part of our Italian tradition, although don’t know if it’s still done now.
Rita, I am with you. I don’t understand it either and the lead up to the wedding is crazy. Parties, trips, and all the rest and many brides think it is their right to demand these things from friends. I will admit I had my 2 sisters and my step-daughter in my wedding. The wedding was small, no preceding hoopla and it was beautiful, fun and 20 years later(married) we are still together 30 years total. At the end of the day a marriage is not the wedding.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I love when followers read the links and enjoy them.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Yes, summer is waving goodbye. It’s been cooler her this past week thank goodness. We needed a break from that heat. The salad looks delicious. I love those green glasses. Went to look at them at H&M and it seems they’ve gotten pricey lately.
