WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Good morning friends, happy Saturday! It’s time for weekend meandering with Kim and Juliet, our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interest and caught our eye over the past week.
It was a great week. We had a bit of a respite from the seemingly endless heat, 2 gray days with a little rain and temps in the 80’s. One night it even went as low as 65, I needed a sweater and I loved it. Truth be told, summer is not my favorite season. Don’t get me wrong, I like the sun and the fun but after a few days of heat I am over summer. Fall and winter are my favorite seasons, what can I say, at heart I am a nester.
Speaking of Fall, it is sneaking into my email, my shopping cart and on the blog. Although I am still soaking up the sun and relaxing days at the pool reading I have been enjoying the colors, scents and looks of fall. You can see some of my Fall finds here.
Today on weekend meandering I am sharing Alderney Island, Oho Interiors, Julia Berolzheimer x Pottery Barn and lots more.
Take a minute to pour yourself a drink and settle in to read the post and then pop over to see what Kim and Juliet have been up to.
Weekend Meanderings
Alderney

It’s no secret that I love discovering new places to visit. Typically on weekend meanderings I share a country house or hotel., today I am sharing Alderney, the northernmost inhabited Channel Island. This beautiful and charming island offers a relaxing and beautiful adventure steeped in history. Sandy beaches, cliff walks, birdwatching and a charming town are just a few of the things to enjoy while visiting Alderney.
Alderney is one of 5 islands that make up the Islands of Guernsey and is the only one that was completely evacuated during WWII. It has recently been in the news because of Nazi atrocities committed here during WWII when it was home to several slave labor camps. Speaking of which do you remember or every read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, if not you can get a glimpse of what life was like during the occupation.

Elizabeth, I have never heard of Alderney! Wow a lot of history and I would love to read more about it. I am fascinated with anything WWII. I had no idea about all of it. There are so many beautiful places to visit on all those islands!
Julia’s collection sure is lovely and the scalloped bedding is one I and checking out. I love the outfit with the blue and white dress! That is so you. I aim glad you re getting some cool weather! We have 50-60 degree nights in summer and lately it has not been so cool. I just took that a for granted. We always take layers and rarely use AC in the evenings, bit this year we have had to a few times. I hope we all cool down a bit.
I am going to peruse all your great links this afternoon and some of the books too! I’m with you, I love cooler weather and looking forward to fall. xo
Good morning, Elizabeth. Absolutely fascinated with Alderney … so much history. Will do a deep dive after lunch when my chores are done and I can put my feet up. Aren’t you excited about the new Julia x PB collaboration … I seriously want everything. She has such a beautiful aesthetic and lifestyle. Thanks for the intro to Oho Interiors. It’s the dark, moody color situation I love. I’m going to be busy this afternoon chasing down all this beauty. Glad to hear it’s been a little cooler and you have a break from the intense heat. xo
