Tik Tok’s bed-rotting, Mimi Thorisson for Anthropologie, Sarah Brown and Freddie Mercury on weekend meanderings.

WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Good morning and a happy Saturday to you! It’s time for weekend meandering with Kim and Juliet, our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interest and caught our eye over the past week.
How was your week? I am so excited, it was 69 when I woke up yesterday morning! Fall is on the way and I could not be happier. It will been the 90s’ again this week but at least it will cool off a little bit at night.
It’s Labor Day weekend, do you have lots of fun plans? This weekend it is all about barbecue, it is the Pinehurst Barbecue Festival and there are events all weekend. We went to one last night and it was a lot of fun.
Ok, let’s meander so that you can get on with your day.

Bed Rotting Tik-Tok Trend
I will be honest, I am continually AMAZED and sometimes confused by the influence of Tik Tok. Million and millions of people are buying, making or jumping on the bandwagon of shoes, clothes, books, food(butter boards or cottage cheese anyone) and now this. Bed-rotting, the name, is new to me, have you heard of it?
Bed-rotting is choosing to stay in bed all day as a form of self care, mindlessly scrolling on your devices, watching tv, eating, reading and generally relaxing.

This is actually not a new concept, people do it all of the time, but now that it has a name young people seem to find it more acceptable.
The name itself is not too appealing, but whatever you want to call I don’t think there is anything wrong with a little time to yourself to rest, relax and recharge. A person doesn’t always have to be doing something or going somewhere do they?
Do you like to sit in bed and read or play on your device?
Bed-rotting is not without its critics who say that prolonged periods of time in bed are dangerous for your mental health. Generally speaking, if you are spending days at a time in bed scrolling and eating it’s probably not healthy. That said, I am not a doctor so please get medical advice from your physician if this is something that you do regularly.

Now that we are nearing cozy season why not take a little time on the weekend for a lie in? Or if you like queue up a few movies, grab a pile of magazines, a cup of tea and prop yourself up in bed if you like. You deserve a rest day!
One to Follow~Sarah Brown

European collected design is my favorite. I am a collector of stuff and I love to mix patterns and textures, book and things together. This week I discovered Sarah Brown and fell in love with her design philosophy and colorful traditional interiors.

“Sarah views each project as a creative collaboration and she actively encourages her clients to discover and express their own individual style throughout the process. Her interiors are layered with unique artworks and objects, textured fabrics and enlivening patterns. She strives to deliver projects that feel personally meaningful, as opposed to anonymous or trend-led.”

Freddie Mercury Auction
Are you a fan of Queen and Freddie Mercury? Did you know that Freddie was a collector of all sorts of things, art, furniture, Japanese textiles? On September 6th(you can watch it live) the contents and collections of the Garden Lodge, Freddies’ home will be auctioned by Sothebys. The auction will feature not only his collections but his hand written note and lyrics to Queen songs and a few drawings too.

Freddie left his house, collection and half of his fortune to his best friend Mary Austin and after 30 years she has decided to sell his things and close that chapter of her life.

Labor Day Sales

Happy Labor Day weekend, Elizabeth! Your bbq festival sounds wonderful … yum. Bed rotting sounds dreadful. I call it taking to my bed … and it’s a wonderful way to recover from overwhelm by enjoying an hour or two, or a day, reading and regrouping. I’m a fan … but that name has got to go! Sarah Brown is new to me … and I’m swooning over those blue bookshelves. Didn’t know about the Freddie Mercery auction … but I’m interested in the result. Loved him and Queen. The Mimi x Anthro collection is beautiful, especially those wine glasses. I keep swearing off buying more glasses … but these are so tempting! xo
Juliet,
Sarah is an amazing designer. Her ascetic reminds me a little of Snowberry. Rich traditional colors.
Bed rotting is a ridiculous name but I love the idea!
Have a wonderful weekend Juliet.

Hi Elizabeth! Wow fun post and SO much here. Love your apple cake and just saved it. It gets me excited for fall. It look delicious. I love Mimi and her collection is very pretty!
Sarah Brown is very talented.. I will follow her.
I had no idea about Freddie and his home! He had great taste.
I have been enjoying reading all the links you shared here in Tahoe. I am cosy on the couch and fun doing a deep dive on all them.
I hope your Labor Day weekend is lovely and the good weather continues. I am with you – so excited for fall too!
xo
Kim,
I agree about Freddie, he was an interesting man and had amazing taste. What a legacy to live with these past 30 years. It was interesting reading about Mary because she said she didn’t live in the house for 3-4 years after Freddie left it too her.
Sarah is amazing. I love her ascetic.
Have a wonderful day!
