Good morning. I hope that you are having a good week. Tomorrow is Friday so the weekend is just around the corner, as is Mother’s Day.
If your mom loves to cook, and is a Francophile then I have the perfect gift for you. The Cook’s Atelier by mother and daughter American expats Marjorie Taylor and Kendall Smith Franchini. This beautifully written cookbook with stunning photography is like reading a novel, it starts in Arizona over 20 years ago, with a dream and shows that through hard work, and determination anything is possible.
Marjorie and Kendall, succeed in not only achieving their dream of living in France but in creating The Cook’s Atelier, a French cooking school in Beaune. From a small second story apartment in 2009 to a beautiful, new space in a former dress shop ,the Cook’s Atelier has evolved from not only a cooking school but also to a culinary boutique and wine shop offering the tools of the trade, wines and other provisions.
This book showcases the best growers and producers in the region interspersed amongst 100 recipes. You get to meet the ladies favorite gardeners, winemakers, fishmongers, and butchers to name a few and read about their stories as well. Then as if you are in their cooking school Majorie and Kendall teach you the classic French techniques for cooking using fresh market fruits, vegetables, cheese, wine and more.
I am entranced by this book and have plans to read it cover to cover. I have already made a savory tart with spinach, a galette and some madeleines and they were all delicious.
By the way, this is not a sponsored post, I have long been a fan of The Cook’s Atelier and have been anxiously awaiting this cookbook which I purchased as a gift to myself. I promise that if you get the book for yourself or for your mom you will love it just as I do(it has 5 stars on Amazon.)
Have a great day.

This looks like a great book. Even though it's so easy to find recipes online, I prefer using cookbooks. Thanks for the tip!
Happy Mother's Day!
I have heard of them before, so happy you featured the cookbook. What a great gift! And, I believe I should have one too. Great idea !!
This looks great…maybe I'll splurge on a Mother's Day gift for myself!
