Friday Favorites from How Sweet Eats, Savory Simple, Cake and Knife and More

October 13, 2018 By Elizabeth@ Pine Cones and Acorns 3 Comments

Good morning! It has been a wild week for many with the weather. My heart breaks for all those suffering from yet another storm. I cannot believe the devastation and I cannot imagine what it will take to put it back together. All who are suffering and feeling helpless, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I found a lot of great things this week that I think you will enjoy.

Food

Image and REcipe from How Sweet Eats

Doesn’t this Fire-roasted Harvest Squash Pasta look perfect for a cool Fall evening?

Image Cake and Knife

Chili is one of my favorite meals during the cooler months but I have never made a white chili. Now that I have discovered this White Chicken Crockot Chili from Cake and Knife I think I may have something new for my repertoire.

Chocolate Pumpkin Brownies are a scrumptious treat for Fall. You can find this recipe and 5 of my other Chocolate Favorites for the Week Here.

Image from Savory Simple

This Apple Cider Sangria from Savory Simple looks like a great cocktail for a Fall gathering.

On Sunday I watched a segment on 60 minutes about Chef Massimo Bottara which I found so interesting that I decided to read more about him. This article touches upon one of the things he spoke about, that 1/3 of all of the food produced in the world goes to waste. Think about that, 1/3 of ALL of the FOOD PRODUCED GOES TO WASTE.

Finds

4 Seasons

The Story Orchestra: 4 Seasons in One Day. This looks like a great book for kids.

Discover what it would be like to travel through the four seasons in one day, following a little girl called Isabelle and her dog, Pickle, as they take on the adventure of a lifetime. As a sign of the changing seasons, Isabelle carries a little apple tree with her, and we see it bud, blossom and lose its leaves. Each spread features a musical note to press and a 10 second sound clip from the original score of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Illustrated by artist Jessica Courtney-Tickle, the book also features a biography of Vivaldi at the back along with a guide to the music. This is the first title in a series of sound books that bring classical music to life for young children.

Olive Oil Soap of Marseilles is great for your gust room or to give as gifts! I think they would make a great stocking stuffer.

Beautiful dress for Fall as well as for the upcoming holidays. I think the wine color is beautiful!

Are you a mustard fan? I am as is my husband and each year when we travel to Paris we visit the Maille store and replenish our supply of mustard. If you enjoy mustard than you might be interested to know that Maille has some seasonal flavors that only come out once a year. One of my favorites is the Black Truffle Mustard with Chablis White Wine. It is freshly pumped and then sent to you. You might also enjoy the White Truffle with Chardonay. I love them both and think they make great gifts too! This weekend you can get 25% off your order.

That is it for this week. I hope that you share your recipes, books, TV shoes, movies and finds with us.

I hope that you have a happy and safe weekend.

You have to come here and have some black truffles! December to February. The truffle markets are such fun–the sellers are lined up behind a rope, the mayor shoots a gun and the rope drops, and everybody makes a beeline for the truffles. Quite a scene.

That chili sure looks good. I'd like to try that. Once I thought I wanted to live in Florida. But after watching the devastation over the years, no, I think not.
