Sharland England by Louise Roe, Château de la Villedubois, Now You See Us, Tate Britain and more on weekend meanderings.

Good Saturday morning to you friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Kim and Juliet! This is our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye.
Whew, I am tired. It was a busy week and I only had 4 days to cram everything in.
The weather has been beautiful this week, cool(for the South) in the morning and sunny and hot in the afternoon. The perfect weather for hot chocolate on the porch listening to the world wake up and then cocktails in the afternoon at the pool. It is still cool enough for another day at least to have the windows and doors open. I love it.
Speaking for outdoor entertainment, make sure to check out Juliets’ post on outdoor styling and entertaining. There are lots of great tips for summer gatherings. Juliet is in Italy this week so be sure to follow along on her adventures on Instagram.

One to Follow~Clare Foster Bud to Seed

Clare Foster is the Garden Editor at House & Garden UK. She started her career at Gardens Illustrated magazine and for the last 20 years has been writing about, visiting and creating gardens. She is also the author of several books, including The Flower Garden, How to Grow Flowers from Seed and Painterly Plants.

I discovered Clare on Instagram and of course went down the rabbit hole learning all about her books, work and the amazing garden that she created from nothing in 3 years. There is hope for me and my dream of creating an English garden. The most important thing I learned is that it take patience, knowledge and trial and error.
If you like colorful, romantic English gardens as much as I do I think you will enjoy following and learning from Clare.

Ageless Style~Tara Shaw and Jeannette

Brenda and Cindy have done it again! Each month they interview and share a woman and her ageless style. This month Brenda shared one of my favorite interior designers, Tara Shaw and Cindy shared Jeannette former blogger from 2 Seasons. Both ladies have wonderful style and lead vibrant lives in their 60s.
Wanderlust~Chateau de la Villedubois

Is France, Britany in particular on your “Bucket List?” If so you may want to stay at the charming Château de la Villedubois. This chateau has been in the same family for over 400 years. Emilia & Allard, as well as, her parents and children renovated and run the B&B and its 40 acre park.
The rooms are beautiful and the library is magical, it is my favorite room in the house!

This house does not belong to us, it belongs to History. Preceding generations have entrusted it to us to give it life, share it and make it glow before handing it on to future generations.

Located just 20 minutes from Rennes and the Broceliande Forest, where you can walk in the footsteps of King Arthur, Merlin and the Knights of the Round Table and an 1 hour and 20 minutes from Mont St. Michel. The chateau is a wonderful place to settle in and do some exploring. Then come back at the end of each day and enjoy a rest in your comfortable room and the rest of the chateau.
For more information about Château de la Villedubois or to book a room visit their website or follow along on Instagram.
If you are staying closer to home this summer check out Kims’ Salt Lake City, Utah guide. Salt Lake City is one of my favorite places to visit, and Kim has some great restaurants and shop suggestions.
Now You See Us~Tate Britain
If you will be in London this summer make sure to get tickets for Now You See Us. Over 150 works of art spanning the years 1520-1920 from the women who went against tradition, broke boundaries and paved the way for all female artists to come.
“Spanning 400 years, this exhibition follows women on their journeys to becoming professional artists. From Tudor times to the First World War, artists such as Mary Beale, Angelica Kauffman, Elizabeth Butler and Laura Knight paved a new artistic path for generations of women. They challenged what it meant to be a working woman of the time by going against society’s expectations – having commercial careers as artists and taking part in public exhibitions.” ~Tate Britain
You can read more about this fascinating exhibition here.

On My Radar:

Loved you post!
As always it’s interesting and informative.
Thank you Rosemary!
Love the intimate seating area enclosed by greenery. I’d love to have an area like that. I hate what happened to HouseFresh. Google is being horribly cruel with its AI. I’ll never use it personally. Just on principle.
Brenda
Me too Brenda, it is so cosy. The entire garden is amazing.
Google is certainly keeping us all on our toes. AI is something that to me is dangerous and yet fascinating at the same time. I’ve not used it either.
I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend.
Hi Elizabeth,
Is the white fence with the gorgeous hydrangeas at your home? I live this look.
Chateau de la Villedubois is incredibly beautiful, Wow, in the family for 400 years
makes it incredible story. I can’t imagine all the on going work and so many people to care for such a property.
Have you ever stayed at the Chateau?
I don’t think so. I know you have traveled
extensively in your life time.
Thank you for sharing this.
Hello Katherine,
The hydrangeas and the white fence are in the village of Pinehurst. We are not allowed to have fences in my neighborhood because I live on a golf course. I too love the look.
The Chateau is beautiful and the history is fascinating.I have traveled extensively in France over the years and stayed in several chateau but not this one.
Have a wonderful week and thank you for visiting.
Elizabeth, I am so late to comment and thank you for so kindly sharing the SLC post!
Thank you for the good garden inspiration and that new site by Louise looks full of good home things.
I love your summer bucket list so much. Your afternoons by the pool with a cocktail sound great.
I will share this chateau with friends whose son is going to Renns for a month this summer to study. They will visit. I would love to go there and to the Tate! Are you going back to the UK anytime soon?
Thank you also for this pretty white outfit. The earrings are so fun.
Hope you have a great week.
x Kim
PS. Your village looks lovely.
