February is know as the month of love and friendship but it is also heart health month and I did not want it to pass without acknowledging it.

Meanderings
It goes without saying that the events in Ukraine are heartbreaking, if you would like to help I found this list on NPR of organizations where you can make donations and get more information.
This story is amazing, Eight Hundred Lost Children and a Voyage Around the World.
Yesterday on my Friday Favorites post, I recommended this book, I started it last night at 11 and at 2:30 in the morning I was still reading it. I had to force myself to go to sleep. I finished it this morning and I really enjoyed it.
Speaking of books have you ever heard of blurbing?
Have you shopped lately at Banana Republic? I used to shop there all the time but then the quality went down a few years ago. Lately it seems as if they have gone back to quality materials and classic styles. I have my eye on this dress and a few other things but am going to wait for a sale.
We are inching our way along in the kitchen design. Yesterday we tweaked a few cabinets, drawers, and the hood design. We also received samples of the floor and a the brick is my favorite for the kitchen, Carolina room and the laundry across the hall.
As for the landscaping, a few more of our plants arrived yesterday, but we are still waiting on the peonies and the climbing fig.
I am looking for inspiration for my containers, I like to keep lots of flowering post on the front porch because they are pretty but also because the deer don’t come onto the front porch(at least not yet). If you live in Zone 6,7,8 and have some deer resistant flower ideas let me know.
Do you play Wordle? Admittedly I don’t play it but I love to play a few rounds of Free Rice. Have you ever played it? If you try it make sure to change the level of difficulty and challenge yourself. It. is a great way to exercise your mind.
I am off to bake brownies and to make a batch of these Caramel Stuffed Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Krispy Bars.
My bother and his family are coming for a bbq this afternoon, and my nephew asked if he could bring his two friends so I am going to need a lot of treats for these hungry kids.
I hope that you have a wonderful day. Stay safe in this crazy weather friends and let us keep the people of Ukraine in our prayers.

I’m so happy that your kitchen and landscaping are moving along. I have deer in my yard, too. They avoid my zinnia, mint and salvia each year. We use Repels All to keep them out of hosta beds, but you have to be diligent to use it often. Each morning my son and I play Wordle and share our scores. A fun greeting each morning. Happy Saturday!
Elizabeth, thanks for sharing NPR’s information on places where we can make contributions to the people of Ukraine. The situation is so devastating and I don’t know what else to say. Other than try to help through these groups … and pray. Also appreciate the heart health reminder. Recently two friends had heart events and we need to be aware of taking care of our precious timekeepers. I haven’t been to Banana Republic in a while, but they’ve always been favorite. Particularly durning my working year. Love this dress you’ve features. Those brownies look amazing your nephews and his friends are never going home. Well, at least until the brownies run out! Enjoy your family time … and entire weekend! xo
My husband and 2 of our daughters and I are doing Wordle too. Nice to have another connect point with our adult kids.
Hi Elizabeth, Thank you for sharing the heart disease reminders. I think we forget and it affects us all, especially women. I love that you are considering brick for your kitchen! I have always loved it and you might know our friend Contessa has it and it’s beautiful and unique, though I do think she has someone help clean it. I bet it would not show much wear or stains? The blue dress is lovely! I do think Banana has gotten so much better quality. They carry less and better things and have been going back to their heritage pieces too which are beautiful. I can find a lot to love there now, and I couldn’t say that a couple years ago. They must have a new designer and better quality choices. The brownies with the Rice Krispies look so good. I love anything with crunch. I may have to wait on making these – I feel like I have eaten so much chocolate this month. Defiantly will try soon. I bet the kids will love them. I adore doing this with you both. I am also praying for Ukraine and likely have the same links . What more can we do now? Have a wonderful weekend. x Kim
How great you’re getting the kitchen planning
Brick in the kitchen is amazing. I think it’s so pretty
Because we gave a semi open floor plan and a ranch our home is a hardwood.
Looking at our home from the outside you would never think it’s a ranch.
Enjoy your gathering!
Hi Elizabeth
I popped back to say my stepmother has heart failure from smoking
I’m angry about it because 15 years ago we told her to stop.
Her answer I love it. My answe, love a habit that smells and can give you lung cancer?
I never got the logic. No she has heart failure. It could have been avoided.
Such a great post! I just borrowed your book recommendation from the library. Those brownies look amazing!!!
