Souptember ~ 10 Soups for Fall and Winter

September 14, 2022 By Elizabeth 16 Comments

10 easy and delicious soup recipes to enjoy all Fall and winter long.

French Onion Soup

French Onion Soup Recipe here

Soup can obviously be eaten all year long but I think it tastes the best when it’s cold outside. Why? Because more often than not soups are an event; time spent chopping and sautéing the vegetables, the scent of the soups simmering on the stove that permeates every room in the house and the feeling of comfort that envelopes you as you walk in the door from the cold. Homemade soups and chili are a weekend staple at my house from the first nip in the air and it is always a welcome meal.

quote Louis P. De Gouy about soup

Once the weather starts to cool I pull out my favorite cookbooks and recipes, you know the ones, the family favorites that are dog eared and have stains on the pages. We do try new soups now and again but more often than not on the weekend you will find one of our family favorites simmering on the stove. Each spoonful of my mothers’ chicken soup or my mother-in-laws ham and bean soup transports me back to their table.

Wether you are looking for an easy crockpot soup that you can throw together in the morning and come home to at night or something to simmer for a few hours, you are sure to find a new family favorite in this list. I have gathered up 10 delicious soup recipes that will keep your belly full and warm all season long.

10 Delicious Soup Recipes for Fall And Winter

5. Creamy Chicken Cauliflower and Leek Soup

6.Vietnamese Chicken Pho Soup

9. Pumpkin Ginger Soup

10.Tex-Mex Chorizo Chili

Another great things about soup, they freeze well. I find the best ways to freeze soup is to let it cool and then ladle it into gallon size bags, let the air out and freeze them flat so save space.

Why not make a double or triple batch to have on hand when you just don’t feel like cooking or to serve in the run up to the holidays when you are busy with family and friends, and other large meals?

Or make an extra batch to share with your family and friends. A homemade meal is a wonderful treat.

quote Willa Cather about soup

Before you go, tell me do you have a favorite soup? Or family recipe that you would be willing to share? If so leave a link in the comments or leave the name of the cookbook where we can find it.

Have a wonderful day friends, thank you for spending a part of your day with me! Don’t forget you can find me on Facebook and Instagram as well and you can sign up to receive the posts to your mailbox.

    Hi Elizabeth,
I really enjoy your blog and the Roasted Tomato soup is definitely one I will try. Here’s one of my favorites, I make it in my crockpot and the only adjustment I make is to wait until the last hour to add the rice.

Potato soup has got to be an all time favorite of mine. Please no cheese cooked in but rather a toasty grilled cheese sandwich served on the side.

I was just reading about your fall favorites and hopped over to read this. I am a big soup lover and these recipes look so good. I cannot wait to try some of them. The hard part is deciding which one to try first.
Now back to finish your other post :)))) Have a beautiful weekend Elizabeth.
