Today on the blog I am sharing a weekend update + 5 Things: what I read, watched, and discovered this weekend on Monday Musings.
Where Hope Grows, Sarah Jio, and more on Monday Musings
Good morning friends, happy Monday Musings to you. How was your weekend?
Did you have a nice Mother’s Day? I hope your special day was everything you hoped it was and that you were surrounded by love. I was smothered with love and kisses by my four legged kids.
My weekend was quiet and relaxing. Just what I needed to rejuvenate. The weather was beautiful! I took a few longs walks, one to the village for a cocoa an a look around the bookshop. Then I worked in my yard picking up pinecones and debris from the Saturday night rainstorm.
The sweet potatoes are growing well now that the deer are leaving them along, as are my russet potatoes. The wildflower meadow is mostly covered in green, wether that is flowers or weeds remains to be seen. It is a lot better looking than a circle of dirt.
Whatever the case, the birds and the bees love it and if it is a failure I can start over again next year.
Enough about me, onto +5 Things.
I loved this book and I think you will too!
When Valentina Baker was only eleven years old, her mother, Eloise, unexpectedly fled to her native London, leaving Val and her father on their own in California. Now a librarian in her thirties, fresh out of a failed marriage and still at odds with her mother’s abandonment, Val feels disenchanted with her life.
In a bittersweet twist of fate, she receives word that Eloise has died, leaving Val the deed to her mother’s Primrose Hill apartment and the Book Garden, the storied bookshop she opened almost two decades prior. Though the news is devastating, Val jumps at the chance for a new beginning and jets across the Atlantic, hoping to learn who her mother truly was while mourning the relationship they never had.
As Val begins to piece together Eloise’s life in the U.K., she finds herself falling in love with the pastel-colored third-floor flat and the cozy, treasure-filled bookshop, soon realizing that her mother’s life was much more complicated than she ever imagined. When Val stumbles across a series of intriguing notes left in a beloved old novel, she sets out to locate the book’s mysterious former owner, though her efforts are challenged from the start, as is the Book Garden’s future. In order to save the store from financial ruin and preserve her mother’s legacy, she must rally its eccentric staff and journey deep into her mother’s secrets. With Love from London is a story about healing and loss, revealing the emotional, relatable truths about love, family, and forgiveness.

4. SHOPPING BREAK~FINDS
I haven’t been shopping lately but here are a few things that caught my eye.
Speaking of shopping and summer looks, Wednesday I am joining Kim, Juliet and a host of other ladies for a “what to pack” post. We will each be featuring things to pack for various parts of the country. It should be fun to see all of the beautiful outfits.
5. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT~WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Saturday I joined Juliet and Kim for our weekly series, weekend meanderings. I shared Thomas Dambo, Cromlix House, Mother’s Day brunch ideas and More on weekend meanderings. If you are headed to Scotland make sure to check out Cromlix House, and if Atlanta is on your list this summer you must see the Trolls and tell me all about them!
Don’t forget to check out Kim and Juliets’ post as well!
You can find all of the weekend meanderings posts here if you missed any or are looking for something that was previously featured on the blog.
