A weekend update, The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley, Château de Roquetaillade, Fall Finds and more on Monday Musings.
Good morning friends, how was your weekend?
We had a pretty boring weekend if I am honest. We never left the house. First off, it was too hot and we really didn’t feel like doing anything.
Second, as I mentioned last week, we are in the middle of house projects. Yesterday morning Bill finished laying the floors in the first room. I cleaned out the other room and moved the furniture. While I was at it I sorted files and books, threw out old papers and made a pile for the thrift store.
Tomorrow we are cutting out the carpet in the second room and Bill will start laying the floors. Hopefully things will be finished in the next week or 10 days and we can put the house back together.
We have guests coming the first weekend in September and then my 96 year old mother in law is coming to stay with us for awhile. She will be arriving in the middle of September so things are going to be a little busy the next few weeks.
What about you? Are you working on any projects?
Ok, enough about me, on to +things.
What are you reading this week? Light reads are still on my stack and my Kindle, especially while sitting at the pool or enjoying the late afternoon on the porch.
Isadora Bentley follows the rules. Isadora Bentley likes things just so. Isadora Bentley believes that happiness is something that flat-out doesn’t exist in her life—and never will.
As a university researcher, Isadora keeps to herself as much as possible. She avoids the students she’s supposed to befriend and mentor. She stays away from her neighbors and lives her own quiet, organized life in her own quiet, organized apartment. And she will never get involved in a romantic relationship again—especially with another academic. It will be just Isadora and her research. Forever.
But on her thirtieth birthday, Isadora does something completely out of character. The young woman who never does anything “on a whim” makes an impulse purchase of a magazine featuring a silly article detailing “Thirty-One Ways to Be Happy”—which includes everything from smiling at strangers to exercising for endorphins to giving in to your chocolate cravings. Isadora decides to create her own secret research project—proving the writer of the ridiculous piece wrong.
As Isadora gets deeper into her research—and meets a handsome professor along the way—she’s stunned to discover that maybe, just maybe, she’s proving herself wrong. Perhaps there’s actually something to this happiness concept, and possibly there’s something to be said for loosening up and letting life take you somewhere . . . happy.
Youtube has so many interesting things to watch, this week I found myself drawn to French chateaux.
Tour Château de Roquetaillade, located near Bordeaux in south-west France, this beautiful place has been in the same family for over 700 years!
4. SHOPPING BREAK~FINDS
