WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Good morning and a happy Saturday to you! It’s time for weekend meandering with Kim and Juliet, our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interest and caught our eye over the past week.
It’s been a cold one here this week and it is not going to be any warmer today. The high is only going to be 30! I will not be venturing far from home the next few days because although I love snow(we have none) I am a little wimpy when it is bitter cold. But the good news is that next week it will be warming up across the country. Yeah!
Tonight we are having friends for dinner. And then Sunday it is game day. Aside from that no plans except to continue the ongoing organization at home. I am taking it one day at a time, some days I organize just one drawer and other days a little more.
What are your plans this weekend? Any outdoor activities on your schedule? Or will you be staying put like me?
Ok, let’s get to weekend meanderings.
One to Follow~Katie Hodges Design
I just discovered Katie Hodges in House Beautiful and then went to Instagram to see more of her work. Katie is a self taught designer that lives and works in California. Her designs combine California living with the collected English look that I love. Beautiful art and vintage and antique pieces have a place in all of her designs.
“Working across various design styles, Katie Hodges Design is a residential interior design firm that mindfully incorporates Katie’s signature aesthetic in a way that equally honors the client’s style and soul of the home. Deeply rooted in her love for California’s architecture and lifestyle, Katie’s designs are intelligently layered- striking a balance between modern and traditional while maintaining accessibility that never feels overly-designed or precious.”
More About Katie
Her work has been featured Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Luxe, Elle Decor, Homes & Gardens and Rue Magazine.

Hotel 1928
Joanna and Chip Gaines recently opened a new hotel in Waco, TX. Have you seen it? It is amazing. It is cozy, comfortable, collected and the library looks like a great place to sit with friends for a drink or to read a book.
Originally designed by Herbert M. Green and Roy Ellsworth Lane—who also designed the Cottonland Castle and contributed to the Alico building—the 50,000-square-foot delight had been gathering dust for too long. Hotel 1928 has been transformed into 33 guest rooms with three food and beverage outlets, over 6,600 square feet of meeting and event space, along with a rooftop terrace.
Entry spaces were made brighter and lighter. A new floor created space for a rooftop bar and lounge without changing sight lines. Stonework, brick, and historic terrazzo flooring were saved where they could be, along with exposed beams and, in some rooms, the original concrete floors. The ballroom, built for galas and soirees, was modernized and made beautifully accessible for all.

Studio McGee x Target Spring Collection
Studio McGee fans, did you see the new Spring collection? Apparently it was released just before Christmas, so if you are looking for pillows, tabletop items or even furniture to add to your Spring decor make sure to check it out. I love the rabbit pillows and these floral napkins.

Great post, Elizabeth! I love all the home decor spaces you shared. And that Liberty print blouse has my heart! Hope you have a great weekend! Stay warm!

Elizabeth, gosh I didn’t know you guys were getting that cold weather too. Hope you’re staying cozy inside. I’m glad to hear warmer weather is coming. My uncle lives in St. Louis and they had below 20 temperatures and all their pipes froze and no water for a week! We have been lucky it’s been pretty mild here except for some rain.
I didn’t know about Katie Hodges will check out her feed. That hotel looks lovely. That cookbook looks great. I’m thinking it would be a good gift for my son’s girlfriend.
Isn’t that red blouse pretty? I saw it too. I love everything liberty and red seems so fresh right now.
Hope you’re having a fun weekend!!
xoxo

Thank you Kim! I hope that you are having a wonderful week after being sick with Covid!

Elizabeth! Each time I try to reduce the number of accounts I’m following on Instagram, you introduce me to a new one I MUST follow. Absolutely love Kate’s aesthetic and need to to a deeper dive. It was so much fun watching the Magnolia series on the renovation of Hotel 1928. When I visited Waco in 2017 there were no unique hotel options and I’d love to go back and stay at 1928. I’m sure there event spaces will be jam packed with weddings and other fun celebrations. The story of the purchase of that authors library was incredible … and the opening of the hotel has got me moving a return visit to Waco higher on my list. Hope you have a lovely time with your friends tonight. xo

I love those Liberty print shirts from J Crew. I have several from years past and this one does not disappoint! Always love all your interesting links!
Elizabeth says
Cindy, that Liberty shirt is beautiful! The only thing I don’t like is that it is a cropped shirt.
