MONDAY MUSINGS

Good morning friends, how was your weekend?

Saturday was a rainy, gray, cool day. The perfect excuse to sleep in, read and relax. I was actually under the weather so I spent much of the day in bed. I am not sure what bug I caught but I was out for the count.Copious amounts of tea, hot water bottles and sleep were just what I needed. Sadly I missed a day of antiquing with my sister and dinner with friends.

Sunday was not the sunny day we were promised but that did not stop us from ticking a few things off the “to do” list. After a day in bed Saturday I felt rested and while not 100% I did feel a lot better.

What about you? What did you do this weekend?

Next up +5 things.

Wear gratitude like a cloak and it will feed every corner of your life.

Fair Rosaline

A shattering untelling of Romeo and Juliet

The first time Romeo Montague sees young Rosaline Capulet he falls instantly in love. Rosaline, headstrong and independent, is unsure of Romeo’s attentions, but with her father determined that she join a convent, this handsome and charming stranger offers her the chance of a different life.

Soon though, Rosaline begins to doubt all that Romeo has told her. She breaks off the match, only for Romeo’s gaze to turn towards her cousin, thirteen-year-old Juliet. Gradually, Rosaline realizes that it is not only Juliet’s reputation at stake but her life. With only hours remaining before she will be banished behind the nunnery walls, will Rosaline save Juliet from her Romeo? Or can this story only ever end one way?

  1. Dear Elizabeth,
I just want you to know I enjoy what you have to say and share. I take it in but I don’t respond in comment.
I hope you are feeling much better today. It’s no fun not feeling well. Glad to hear you stayed in bed on Saturday and rested.
I also enjoy reading the quotes you have to share. They always resonate with me.
Our Noah is in Jerusalem attending a 9 month Hebrew studies and Torah learning. He is still studying a bit, spending time volunteering, babysitting to help a mother with her children because her husband has been called off to war and cleaning out bomb shelter. It’s a very trying time for our family. He stays hunkering down in his dorm room with his three dorm friends. When he goes outside he stays hyper vigilant. It’s hard to be at peace right now knowing what is happening in Israel and Ukraine.

    1. Katherine,
I cannot imagine the stress that you are under. I will keep Noah, you and the rest of the people in Isreal in my prayers. These are such difficult times and I am heartbroken by what is to come. You are so right, it is very difficult to see peace. We must trust the plan of God. Please let Noah and his friends know that we are all here supporting him.
Thank you for your comment. Please feel free to reach out any time if you need support.
      Best, Elizabeth

  2. That first photo is just gorgeous.
I’ve read a lot of positive reviews about Fair Rosaline. Earlier this year I read I, Mona Lisa by the same author and didn’t care for it. I think I was expecting something different.
I hope you’re feeling better. We had a quiet weekend as I was recovering from a team building activity that involved walking half-way up a mountain (a slight exaggeration but it really felt like it).

    1. Thank you Lorna. It sounds like an interesting weekend. Tell us more, what else did you do for team building?
I thought Fair Rasaline was interesting, a take on Romen and Juliet I had never thought of.
I feel a lot better, thank you.
Take care and ahve a great week

  3. Dear Elizabeth,
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful reply. I will certainly pass along your message to our Noah. I asked him how he is doing today and he said he is okay. Now back to his studies.
I will certainly pass on your message. It’s a lot to go experience without your parents being with you for comfort and support and only 18 years young. He has family in Israel but I don’t think it’s been safe to go visiting.
I continue to also pray for the beautiful people of Ukraine.

  4. Always enjoy your posts Elizabeth. I’ve just started shopping for Christmas, and I saw a lot of people when we were shopping doing the same. So much less stressful to start early.
