MONDAY MUSINGS NO. 106

Noel Streatfeild, Ballet Shoes, Beth O’Leary, The Switch and more on Monday Musings.

Good morning friends! It’s a new week with infinite possibilities ahead, don’t forget to open your mind to them.

We had a lazy weekend, that seems to be the theme this winter. Don’t get me wrong we weren’t total slugs, we bundled up both Saturday and Sunday and took a 5-6 miles walk. Then on Saturday we hosted friends for dinner and drinks.

But for the most part, we were home and enjoying time in the kitchen trying new recipes, reading by the fire, watching  football and puttering around the house. I know that there are many people that are on the go all the time, that is not me.

There is nothing that makes me happier than being at home, especially in the winter. Some may call it boring, I call it bliss.

What did you do this weekend? Did you make a big post of soup? Go sledding with the kids or watch a movie? Or were you a homebody? Whatever you did I hope that you enjoyed it.

Ok, on to +5 things.

"The simple act of listening to someone and making them feel as if they have truly been heard is a most treasured gift." — L. A. Villafane

1.READ~The Switch

Book cover of The Switch

The Switch

Leena is too young to feel stuck.
Eileen is too old to start over.
Maybe it’s time for The Switch…

Ordered to take a two-month sabbatical after blowing a big presentation at work, Leena escapes to her grandmother Eileen’s house for some overdue rest. Newly single and about to turn eighty, Eileen would like a second chance at love. But her tiny Yorkshire village doesn’t offer many eligible gentlemen… So Leena proposes a solution: a two-month swap. Eileen can live in London and look for love, and Leena will look after everything in rural Yorkshire.

But with a rabble of unruly OAPs to contend with, as well as the annoyingly perfect – and distractingly handsome – local schoolteacher, Leena learns that switching lives isn’t straightforward. Back in London, Eileen is a huge hit with her new neighbours, and with the online dating scene. But is her perfect match nearer to home than she first thought?

2. WATCHED~Ballet Shoes

Ballet Shoes, is based upon the popular children’s book by Noel Streatfeild.

Pauline, Petrova, and Posy love their quiet life together. They are orphans who have been raised as sisters, and when their new family needs money, the girls want to help. They decide to join the Children’s Academy of Dancing and Stage Training to earn their keep. Each girl works hard following her dream. Pauline is destined for the movies. Posy is a born dancer. And Petrova? She finds she’d rather be a pilot than perform a pirouette.

This beautiful children’s classic is perfect for girls who love to dream about ballet, friendship, and finding their own special talents. Adult readers may remember them as the “Shoes” books from You’ve Got Mail!

Have you watched it? If not it is a great movie and it is free on Youtube and Amazon PrimeVideo.

"I care about decency and humanity and kindness. Kindness today is an act of rebellion."
