MONDAY MUSINGS NO. 120

Good Monday morning to you my friends, how was your weekend? It was beautiful here this weekend, sunny, hot, but not too hot, with a nice breeze. It is 10-15 degrees above normal, hopefully that is not a sign of things to come this summer.

We did a little work this weekend and had some fun as well. Friday we went for cocktails with friends in the village. Saturday morning we walked to the farmers market, picked up some fresh strawberries, some eggs and then went for coffee and cocoa at the Roast Office.

After we got home,  we worked in the yard cleaning the beds at the top of the driveway, we are trying to decide if we want to remove some of the bushes this summer or wait until Fall. At this point I am not sure that we can take on another project.

Then dinner with friends and I was home and in bed by 10. I guess I was tired because my normal bedtime is 11:00.

Sunday we made bread, puttered around the house, talked to our parents. My dad who is 85 broke 4 ribs playing on his senior baseball team. Thankfully he didn’t break anything else.

What about you, what did you do this weekend?

Ok, on to +5 Things.

Read~The Bordeaux Book Club

The Bordeaux Book Club book cover with a bright blue door.

When Leah and her husband moved to France, it was with the dream of becoming self-sufficient. But in truth, it’s not the ‘good life’ she’d imagined, as three hours of digging barely yield a single straggly carrot. Worse, her teenage daughter is acting up, and her husband seems to find every strange excuse under the hot French sun to disappear.

So when her friend entreats her to join the new bookclub she’s forming, Leah decides it’s something she will do for herself. The chance to make new friends, to drink a few glasses of wine, and to escape into stories that take her miles away from the life she’d thought would be her own happy-ever-after.

But the book club is a strange group of misfits. There’s prickly Grace, who lives alone and seems to know everybody and like no-one. Buttoned-up Monica, who says her husband is away and appears to be parenting her baby all alone. Handsome builder George, who has barely read a book before. And Alfie – who is a full two decades younger than everyone else, and is hiding a devastating secret…

As the stories they read begin to bring the new friends closer together, Leah is about to discover that happy-ever-afters don’t always look how you expect them to…

4. SHOPPING BREAK~FINDS & SALES

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Navy Short Outfit Fashion Over 50 Spring Summer with blue shorts, pale blue linen shirt, blue sweater, white tennis shoes, a straw hat and straw bag.

In the spring and summer a pair of shorts and a linen shirt are an easy and classic outfit. Add a sweater for days you are inside with the air conditioner or for cooler weather at night. I like to wear white sneakers or sandals, add a hat to keep the sun off and of course a tote to carry everything I need for the day.
