MONDAY MUSINGS NO. 134

WEEKEND UPDATE

Good morning friends, happy Monday musings to you.

Did you have a nice weekend? It was hot and stormy. Saturday night it was a little scary, high winds, heavy rains and lots of debris hitting the house. I’ve lived here over 3 years and was never bothered by the trees until one fell on the house. Now, the minute it starts to rain I am in a panic and am worried another tree will fall on the house.

How about you did you get any rain? Are you in the path of the hurricane? If you are in Florida, batten down the hatches, it is going to be a rough day today.

Aside from the weather, we worked on a few indoor projects, went out with friends on Friday and ended the weekend at the pool. All in all, a productive and fun weekend with a busy week ahead.

What about you? How was your weekend? What are your plans for the week?

Ok, on to +5 Things.

1.READ~The Guest House by the Sea

The Guest House by the Sea book cover with a view of the sea out the window.

The Guest House by the Sea

I loved this book!

People come to the guest house for fresh air and views across the Atlantic. But if they’re lucky, they might just leave with the second chance they didn’t know they needed…

Esme has run the guest house for as long as anyone in Ballycove can remember. But in her declining years, her sight is failing, and when she has a fall on the eve of the summer season, she is forced to take a back seat for the first time in her life.

From her chair in the entry hall, not much passes Esme by. There’s Cora, the wife visiting indefinitely… without her husband; Niamh, the city professional with a life-changing decision to make; and Phyllie, the grandmother whose family is slipping away from her.

Esme’s guests provide the colour that helps her keep her grip on the world. All of them have something they want to escape – or to hold on to. But can Esme help them find their way before the summer is over?

2. WATCHED~ A Little Chaos

A Little Chaos movie poster with a woman and a man dressed in period French clothing.

A female landscape gardener is awarded the esteemed assignment to construct the grand gardens at Versailles, a gilt-edged position which puts her in the centre of the court of King Louis XIV, where secrets and sadness are buried beneath the glamour.

4. SHOPPING BREAK~FINDS & SALES

Fall fashion over 50, white jeans, blue and white stripe shirt, cable cardigan, tan purse and shoes and a gold bracelet.

White jeans are a great transition into Fall. You can pair them with brith colors if it is still hot and more muted Fall tones if the weather is starting to turn a little colder. This outfit is similar to the one I shared on Monday(below) except I found a less expensive bag and shoes. The sweater and shirt are something you already have or similar and make a classic, casual and chic “uniform” if you will for the upcoming colder months.
