Monday Musings No. 173

Good morning friends. It’s June, a special month because it is the start of summer(June 20), has the longest day of the year and a Strawberry moon. It’s the end of the school year for many, Father’s Day and the start of hurricane season.

Did you have a good weekend? Saturday we woke to a sick dog. We were up at 5:00 am changing the sheets and caring for Paris. By mid-day she was feeling better and we headed to the beach club to go paddle boarding.

It was windy and the water was cold so I actually never stood up for fear of falling in. I simply paddled around sitting on my knees and had a great time. It was nice to be out on the water. Then we sat in the sun, relaxed and visited with family and friends who were there as well.

Sunday we went to church and then did nothing, nothing exciting that is. We read, puttered around the house and relaxed.

Tell me about your weekend?

On to +5 Things!

Read~A Time to Change

A Time to Change.

I loved A Time to Change, I think you will too.

Louisa Arnold used to love playing in the grounds of derelict Hill House as a little girl. Now, a devastating loss sends her running to the overgrown gardens, seeking sanctuary in the manor’s ruined halls.

There, to her astonishment, Hill House begins to transform around her – in place of rotting floors and sagging ceilings, are vast silk rugs of embroidered roses and majestic crystal chandeliers. Maids and footmen flit busily past – is Lou dreaming, or could she actually be standing in this place as it was a hundred years ago?

Lou is mystified by the warm welcome she receives as a guest of the illustrious Mandeville family. Over tea parties and shoots, banquets and dancing, she’s suddenly living the life she always dreamed of. And, though she tries to fight it, she’s increasingly drawn to the Mandeville heir, Thomas, whose heart-breaking fate she knows well from the pages of history.

As Lou falls more in love with this world, the truth about Hill House and the destiny of its family begins to unravel. Will the past run its stubborn course, swallowing Lou in its wake – or can she save this beautiful place and the people she’s come to treasure from certain ruin?

4. SHOPPING BREAK~OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Blue & White summer Skirt outfit Fashion over 50 with a white t-shirt, fuchsia sling back sandals, a gold charm bracelet, perfume, tortoise sunglasses and a blue and white brocade bag.

Blue and white is my favorite color combination, it is classic and versatile and you can add pops of color to your shoes, bags and other accessories. The skirt and t-shirt are great separates to have in your wardrobe and there are endless combinations to wear them.

Isn’t this brocade tote beautiful? A summer statement that can be used everyday.
