WEEKEND MEANDERINGS

Good Saturday morning to you friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Kim and Juliet! This is our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye.

What a crazy day yesterday, hail in California and an earthquake in NY. Did you experience any interesting weather phenomenon? Thursday there was an earthquake in NC. Just a small one, 2.1 in western NC, apparently it was the 7th one this year. No where near us thankfully. I’ve been in one earthquake in my life and that was in 2011 in Virginia. What about you?

This afternoon we are going to the carriage races and a racing tailgate, so this morning I am making brownies and cookies. It is going to be a beautiful, sunny day and I am looking forward to seeing friends, the horses and being outside. Do you have some fun plans for the weekend?

Today I am sharing  a master maze designer, the Aerin Lauder Williams Sonoma collection and lots more to share so let’s get to it.

One to Follow~Willard & Palmer Design

Charlotte Palmer Lekakos started Williard & Palmer in 1996 after working for several of Washington’s well-known designers. Her portfolio includes residences, museums, universities, and commercial offices throughout the Washington area and beyond. She has been featured in Traditional Home and Better Homes & Gardens.

As with all of the designers I have featured on “one to follow” Charlottes’ designs are timeless, traditional, classic, collected and beautiful. Vintage and antique pieces mingle with modern art and fabrics. Each room is cozy and comfortable.

Adrian Fisher~Maze Designer

Typically I share English garden designers but recently I read about Adrian Fisher, in Country Life magazine. Adrian is the most famous maze designer in the world. In fact he designed the world’s first cornfield maze in 1993 and over 400 more since, his most recent maze was featured in the movie Saltburn.

Adrian Fisher is a British, inventor, designer, author and creator of mazes, puzzles, public art, and so much more. Since 1979 he has created more than 700 mazes in 42 countries.

You can see one of Adrians designs, the Marlborough Maze at Blenheim Palace, which by the way is the same maze on the £5 note.

Aerin Lauder x Williams Sonoma Collection

The latest Aerin Lauder X Williams Sonoma collection was released this week. Inspired by her East Hampton garden the tabletop pieces are blue and white with a floral motif. And the outdoor collection, which includes furniture, is inspired by a basket Aerins’ grandmother used to collect flowers from her garden.

  1. Elizabeth, Hope you have fun at the races! Yep we have had hail so many times this week, it’s crazy. Before this year, I think I remember hail a handful of times in my life living in California! We are used to earthquakes and all our buildings have to be built to withstand them, so I feel for you all in the east coast , as you aren’t used to it. I wonder what is going on?
I love your dresses and the gingham look. Aerie Lauder’s collection is so pretty. Especially lovely furniture! I love all she does.
That pasta looks perfect for spring!
    Have a great weekend. xo

  2. I was alive and indirectly affected by the 1989 earthquake in the SF Bay Area. I grew up in Calif. and even here in HI, earthquakes happen. I don’t worry about them, like I would with a hurricane or a tornado.

  3. Good morning! Very excited to hear Ina’s ‘Be My Guest’ is returning. Love this show, any and all Ina show really. This seasons guest list sounds super fun. Aerin Lauder partnerships with William Sonoma are always amazing … look at those gorgeous blue and green dishes and I love the polka dot glasses. Have fun at the races! xo

  4. I live in Palm Springs and we had a 7.3 or 7.2 depending upon your source. My neighbor lost 150 gallons of water from his pool and ours was like a swishing dishpan. 4.something is nothing, no more than the ‘Top Gun’ type jets taking off from Palm Springs International Airport.
