Monday Musings No. 207
Good morning friends! I hope this chilly Monday morning finds you well and rested from whatever fun you enjoyed this weekend.
Did you watch the Olympic? The Super Bowl? I watched a few of the ice skaters and skipped the Super Bowl. The skating was beautiful, especially the ice dancing. In other Olympic news, Lindsey Vonn broke her leg, in a terrible crash and that is the end of her Olympic comeback. What an inspiring woman, did you know that she has 82 World Cup wins, 20 World Cup titles, 3 Olympic medals, World Championship Medals?
Although I did not watch the Super Bowl I could hear it, it sounded a little boring at the beginning and it sounded like it was mostly commercials? Was it?
Have you been following the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping? It’s incredibly sad. My hope is that the authorities have more information than they are sharing and that they can bring her home safe to her children. I cannot even imagine what they are all going through. My prayers are with Nancy and her family.
Ok, on to Monday Musings.
Read~The Last Dinner at Wisteria House

On a peaceful avenue stands the once-grand Wisteria House. Now it’s split into apartments, occupied by strangers who rarely say hello. Could one last dinner party bring it to life again?
Ninety-year-old Alice has one last wish: to fill her new home with light and laughter, just like when her husband was alive. So she sets out her favourite plates, opens an old recipe book, and sends invitations to the neighbours she’s certain need friendship just as much as she does…
Declan hasn’t believed he deserves to follow his dreams since he tragically lost his sister.
Jess has been working herself to the bone to provide for her little daughter and has no time for joy in her own life.
Mark, a widower, has been isolated in his grief for so long.
Over a shared meal, Alice reminds each of them that sharing stories keeps those we love alive, and that time is our most precious gift. As they hug goodbye, everyone feels lighter than they have in years. Little do they know Alice has her own secret reason for gathering them together…
The next morning the tenants receive terrible news. Is their first dinner party destined to be the last? With Wisteria House under threat, can they come together to save the one place that has only just started to feel like home? Or will they lose their little community just when they need it most?

SHOPPING BREAK

A trench coat is an essential wardrobe staple, and is the perfect coat to wear when the temperatures fluctuate in later winter and Spring. Pair it with jeans, your favorite t-shirt, stripe sweater or button down. This week I added a pair of my favorite sling back sandals and a bag to carry all of your analog items.

On My Radar~Valentine’s Day

I am enjoying certain events at the Olympics, as I always do. The super bowl doesn’t really register on my radar, but it’s hard to miss all of the hype surrounding it. I always find at least one article from your links that is interesting and informative. Thanks for including such a great variety of topics on your blog!
Paula, thank you! I try to find things that appeal to everyone. Have a wonderful week.
Hi Elizabeth,
I’m not into the Super Bowl, half time made us both gasp. I’m not super conservative at all but we muted it. It could be because we aren’t in our twenties anymore.
The abduction of Nancy Guthrie is heart wrenching to me. The family is wonderful, I’m a huge fan of Savannah’s and watch her since she started hosting/anchoring the Today show. I’m praying throughout the day for Nancy’s safe return. I find this whole thing heart wrenching. I know Tucson and about where Nancy lives.
I hope you are feeling better.
Take care and stay safe out there.
Katherine, I did not watch the SB, I did go in and out of the room. What I do not understand about the SB, why would you have a show that is only in Spanish? Doesn’t that alienate a significant part of the US population?
As for Nancy Guthrie, it is heartbreaking. I do not understand why there is not a larger reward? Surely a significant reward would garner more tips and ultimately help find Nancy.
My thoughts and prayer are with Nancy and her family.
Yes, it is tragic about Savannah Guthrie’s mother. I kind of don’t think it will end well after all this time thought. Sad to say. I hope that’s wrong.
Brenda
Brenda, is is so tragic. What I do not understand is why not offer more money for information? Surely if there was a significant amount of money offered for tips people would step forward. I am praying for a good outcome although I have to agree with you, as time goes on it doesn’t look good.
