Good morning friends.  It’s Good Friday, the start of Easter weekend. Many around the world will be observing the crucifixion of Christ, attending the stations of the cross and preparing their hearts for resurrection Sunday, Easter.

Today, instead of all of the random and fun things that piqued my interest this week I thought I would share “all things Easter.” Food to add to your table, books to read to the kids, interesting articles about the origins of Easter and of course a few Easter finds too.

Grab your coffee, hot chocolate or tea and let’s get to it.

Friday Favorites Evan Esar “Easter is the only time when it’s perfectly safe to put all your eggs in one basket.”

Easter, like Christmas is all about traditions. We go to mass, come home for cinnamon rolls or hot cross buns, then there is an Easter egg hunt, and a lunch or dinner consisting of ham, potatoes, yeast rolls, asparagus, salad and of course dessert.

Easter Books

These are a few of the Easter books that I have given to the kids in my life for Easter over the years.

The Easter egg

The Easter egg by Jan Brett

Jan Brett’s lovable bunny hero, Hoppi, and her remarkable Easter Rabbit will enchant readers as they pore over illustrations filled with dazzling eggs made by Flora Bunny, Aunt Sassyfrass and others.

If Hoppi can make the best Easter egg, he will get to help the Easter Rabbit with his deliveries on Easter morning. But it is not so easy. Discouraged, he goes into the woods to think when a blue robin’s egg tumbles out of its nest. Hoppi keeps it safe and warm until the baby bird hatches, and when the Easter Rabbit arrives, he declares the empty blue eggshell the very best one to reward Hoppi for his kindness.

The Velveteen Rabbit

The Velveteen Rabbit

The beloved story of the Velveteen Rabbit, the toy rabbit made real by the love of a boy.

Originally published in 1922, the classic story of a toy rabbit who loves a boy so much he eventually becomes real, has charmed children—and adults—for nearly a century. Author Margery Williams wrote this treasured classic that has warmed many hearts for decades. This story is among the top 100 books for children recommended by the National Education Association, chosen in a 2007 online poll, and also won the IRA/CBC Children’s Choice award.

Simon and The Easter Miracle

Over the centuries, his story has been woven into Polish folklore: When Simon the farmer brings his wares to market, little does he expect how he will be involved in the events of that very special day, nor how his produce—of bread, eggs, and wine—will become important symbols of Jesus’ passion and resurrection, remembered throughout the ages.

Finds

One of my fondest memories of Easter is going shopping with my sisters for our dresses and bonnets, more often than not we whore white straw hats with flowing ribbons. One year I made a statement with a black straw hat decorated with white daisy’s and long black grograin  ribbon. It is still my favorite Easter accessories ever.

This would be beautiful too andI think I am in love with at least 2/3 of the new arrivals from Boden.
