Some of my fondest memories are of Easter. A few weeks before we would go shopping to get a new dress and of course an Easter bonnet to wear on Easter Sunday to mass. Our Easter celebration started with an Easter egg hunt and then we ran around to find our baskets which were also hidden. These were no ordinary baskets, along with the easter goodies, and chocolates we always received a sugar diorama egg and a soft, fluffy stuffed bunny. The baskets were wrapped in cellophane, tied with a pastel ribbon and there were sweet little chicks sitting on the handle.

Creating the perfect easter gift basket is easy, you just need a few things, starting with a basket. Wicker baskets are the most common but you could also used a stuffed plush basket with bunny ears, or a recycled basket. Next you need fillers.

Easter baskets are not just for kids. Now that we are all grown up we still receive Easter baskets. Sometimes they are chocolate baskets or an egg filled with our favorite chocolates, mine is always filled with chocolate covered caramels. These beautiful chocolate creations are handmade in small batches by a family owned business that my family has been buying chocolate from for over 50 years. Other times if she is in town or we are visiting her they are just like the baskets we received as kids.

I bet the Easter baskets you create turn out beautiful. We do not do Easter baskets anymore. I do bring out my decorations for Spring/Easter. They bring me so much joy just to look at them. I also have very sentimental items out that one of my forever friend gave me. She is in heaven now, we were friends for 37 years. You both remind me of each other. She was a huge fan of Martha Stewart and Ida Garten. The best cook and baker and a devout Catholic. I miss her so much.
