FRIDAY FAVORITES NO. 555
Good morning friends, how was your week? The news around the world, which seems to get worse every day, weighs heavily on my mind. It is a challenge to share posts or to even want to share something so insignificant when wars are raging. But maybe you are here to take your mind off things? If so, I am happy to post all of the things that have distracted me this week.
I have lots to share this week on Friday Favorites, comforting Fall foods, books, fashion and so much more, so let’s get to it.
FOOD~RECIPES TO TRY

You have got to make Roasted apple salad with shallot vinaigrette is it scrumptious. I made it twice this week. Aside from the the roasted apples, there is blue cheese, toasted pecans and bacon and raisins, what is not to love about this flavorful fall salad.

Looking for an easy comfort meal to add to your rotation? Try this double crust chicken pot pie. Flakey crust, tender chicken and vegetable and herb seasoned gravy. I cannot wait to make this.

Sausage tortellini soup, cheese tortellini served in tomato and beef broth with Italian sausage, fresh kale, garlic and more. Sounds delicious, hearty and filling.

Do you need an easy Halloween treat for an upcoming gathering? Try these homemade pumpkin carrot cupcakes with buttercream frosting and halloween sprinkles.

The ones that got away reunite at a big Italian wedding in this second-chance romance from debut author Ali Rosen, the James Beard Award–nominated writer and host of Potluck with Ali Rosen.
Stella Park is elated to celebrate her best friend’s wedding in the Italian countryside—and maybe she also needs this escape from her personal and her professional life. Writing recipes for a living isn’t all it’s cooked up to be.
But the revelry is short lived when she runs into the ex she hasn’t seen since she broke his heart ten years ago, Samuel Gordon. As her past gets propelled to the forefront, Stella tries not to question the choices she made a decade ago.
When Stella and Samuel keep getting pushed together during a weekend filled with delectable food, Indian and Italian wedding traditions, and unplanned detours in gorgeous locales, she attempts to ignore that maybe he really was the one that got away.
Playing it safe has always been Stella’s dependable rule book. But maybe Samuel is worth the risk—and perhaps some love stories just need more time to marinate.
A housemaid needs some magical help when she falls for a high-society gentleman in this captivating historical fantasy full of wit, charm, and heart-fluttering romance.
Effie has most inconveniently fallen in love with the dashing Mr. Benedict Ashbrooke. There’s only one problem: Effie is a housemaid, and a housemaid cannot marry a gentleman. It seems that Effie is out of luck until she stumbles into the faerie realm of Lord Blackthorn, who is only too eager to help her win Mr. Ashbrooke’s heart. All he asks in return is that Effie sew ten thousand stitches onto his favorite jacket.
Effie has heard rumors about what happens to those who accept magical bargains. But life as a maid at Hartfield is so awful that she is willing to risk even her immortal soul for a chance at something better. Now she has one hundred days—and ten thousand stitches—to make Mr. Ashbrooke fall in love and propose…if Lord Blackthorn doesn’t wreck things by accident, that is. For Effie’s greatest obstacle might well be Lord Blackthorn’s overwhelmingly good intentions.
The Lost Bookshop
‘The thing about books,’ she said ‘is that they help you to imagine a life bigger and better than you could ever dream of.’
On a quiet street in Dublin, a lost bookshop is waiting to be found…
For too long, Opaline, Martha and Henry have been the side characters in their own lives.
But when a vanishing bookshop casts its spell, these three unsuspecting strangers will discover that their own stories are every bit as extraordinary as the ones found in the pages of their beloved books. And by unlocking the secrets of the shelves, they find themselves transported to a world of wonder… where nothing is as it seems.

Baking apple something this weekend is a plan. Great links as always.
There is a pop up ad on the lower right that no matter how many times it plays, I click skip ad or the X to make it go away, as the moving is distracting, it continues to play. It is uncomfortable when reading a page for a video to be going on. I visit less because of that.
Thank you May for letting me know. I apologize for the ad, I will speak to my add network.
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend! Let me know what you bake with all of your apples.
I enjoy your posts and the variety of content but also have been frustrated by the ad that cannot be deleted. It covers content and makes reading difficult. Have not encountered this on other blogs which I hope indicates there is a solution.
Diane,
I appreciate your comment and letting me know about the add. I have been in contact with my network, hopefully they have it fixed soon. Don’t give up on me!
HAve a wonderful weekend.
Love your blog! You always have such a wonderful reading selection and yummy recipies. I really enjoyed the article on the origin of the PSL. I happen to love them! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Hello Elizabeth, thank you for the link to the ‘small’ estate. A beautiful home and how lucky would one be to be able to have a party there. I’ll be looking at purchasing The Lost Bookshop, sounds like a great read. Re the ads I’m able to click the x and they disappear. Ads can be annoying, however, they are revenue for you and can’t complain since you gift us with these wonderful posts and I’m sure it’s a great deal of work for you to produce. Have a lovely weekend.
Friday Favorites #155. That’s impressive, Elizabeth! Interesting article on overthinking. The tortellini soup looks delicious!
Brenda
Brenda, I hope that you are well my friend! Happy weekend. I am an over thinker, what about you? I thought the article was interesting as well.
I cannot wait to make that tortellini soup, that might be a good one for you. If you make it I would add the tortellini later.
Take care and have a wonderful weekend.
I’m a big fan of gifting (and requesting) experiences rather than things. Treasured memories of doing thing with people means so much.
Rachel, I think as we age it is the best gift, we don’t need any more stuff. That said, you are young and it is a wonderful way to make memories with your son and accumulate less stuff and waste. I also love gifts that are made, repurposed or vintage.
