Falling for Forest Green

Good morning. I hope that your week is going well. If you were the lucky winner of the lottery, congratulations. As for the rest of us, it’s back to work. It has been a crazy week in the news and it has me feeling moody and wanting to hunker down in the safety of my home.

I have always been drawn to dark, moody rooms, they remind me of the beautiful and comfortable country houses in the UK, and I think they look more cosy and comfy than a stark white pallet.

Doesn’t this bath look like a wonderful place to while away an hour or two with a good book while soaking in this gorgeous copper tub? I might need a few more candles but otherwise I could easily soak in here every night.

This snug little library is perfect. What more do you need than a comfortable couch and a wall of books?

If you are not a fan of a dark painted room you might enjoy a room decorated with this beautiful wallpaper instead?

Or perhaps you just like a touch of the green? If so you might prefer this room with two plush velvet sofas. I will admit I have never thought to pair dark green and grey but it is a beautiful combination.

Forest green is the perfect color to add a touch of the season to your house or wardrobe. At this time of year there is velvet ribbon for your packages, pillows for your favorite chair, candles to cast a warm glow on your party,  and even boots to keep your feet warm.

I love to add a hint of green to my decor with a big pine wreath, garland for the fireplace and springs of holly cut from my trees tucked into my vintage green transfer-ware sugar bowl. And to my wardrobe I add as much black-watch plaid as I can, including my shoesscarfpj’s and whatever else I can find, although not all at once.  It is my favorite way to add a touch of green to my wardrobe.

Have a great day.

  2. Gorgeous. I'm in an open concept home right now that limits the possibilities. I cannot wait to be back in a century home in the city in a couple of years to be able to play with paint! Until then, throw pillows…

  3. It's so funny our our views sway. I used to be so in love with greens, then shifted into the blues. But lately, I've been coming back, I love the forest greens, olive greens and die over a great sage green. Even during my blue phases {which I am still partial too} there was a little grey/ green tint to the pale blue I painted my dining room {I call it dacquiri ice, after the beautiful Baskin & Robbins sorbet I've always loved}; and the stormy blue in my bedroom {so peaceful}. I love the dual green couches, so dramatic and inviting. Lovely post, just started following you on Pinterest. ~Emily
