WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Good Saturday morning to you friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Kim and Juliet! This is our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye.
Happy St.Patrick’s day weekend! Will you be painting the town green and enjoying a parade or two? There is a parade in town but we haven’t decide if we will be going yet.
This morning I am coming up for air and will spend the weekend playing catch-up after 2 weeks of guests. We had a great time with our friends last week and my niece on Spring break this week but I have to be honest, with the time change and all the fun I am dragging.
How was your week? I hope it was a good one. It is hard to believe that Easter is just 2 weeks away!

One to Follow~Heather Chadduck Hillegas
Heather Chadduck Hillegas is an interior decorator, textile designer, and photo stylist. Before starting her own design business she was the editor of Coastal Living and Cottage Living and then Style Director of Southern Living.

In addition to designing houses around the country Heather Chadduck Hillegas is the new Designer in Residence in Colonial Williamsburg, Heather was invited to work her magic on the oldest home in Williamsburg, the 328 year old Nelson-Galt house and it is stunning.

Heather used products from Williamsburgs’ licensed lines with Schumacher, Benjamin Moore, and Ferguson to bring this historical property one foot into 2024 and the other in 1695. In addition vintage, antique and family pieces were used to create a beautiful place to live with her husband and pup while in residence this year and to showcase the history of the house.

I am in love with this blue room and the master bedroom, the four poster bed is amazing. Actually, I love every room and would move in immediately if I could.
If you would like to tour the Nelson-Galt house tours are available on April 18th, May 14th, July 4th, September 3rd, and October 8th.
Watch the Quintessence tour to get the inside scoop on the challenges of designing a historical house.

Signe Elisabeth Scharling

All I can say about Signe is wow! It is no secret that I love botanical art, in the past I have shared Elizabeth Blackwell and Natasja Sadi. This week I want to introduce you to Signe Elizabeth Scharling, she creates flowers and arrangements from paper!

Signes’ still life creations are works of art. Each flower is cut, and shaped by hand and then painted. Can you believe these flowers are not real?
The good news is that if you have the patience, you too can learn how to make paper flowers. Signe offers tutorials on Youtube, and on her webpage as well workshops. You can see all of her tutorials and work on Instagram and her webpage.

White Shirt Styling~Cindy & Kim
Did you read Signature Style this week with Kim and Cindy? If you like classic white shirts both Kim and Cindy shared several styling ideas that you are going to love. Kim styled her shirts using skits, jeans and shorts from her closet.

Easter Ideas
Easter is 2 weeks away, what are your plans? Will you be hosting brunch or lunch? I made these “surprise inside” carrots last year and they were a big hit. I used them as place cards for my family and friends. They are easy to make and fun.

If you are short on time skip the carrot and fill a cone with treats.

Have you ever dyed Easter eggs naturally? These are made with cabbage! One head of cabbage, a few eggs and glass jars and I ended up with a myriad of blue eggs. Martha Stewart has a great tutorial, I used the cold method.

Easter tablescapes are easy to make using what you already own. A few years ago I used this colorful fabric, bowls of candy, ceramic birds a decoupage eggs that I made.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
It was a slow week on the blog, but in case you missed it, Monday I shared, my latest read and this outfit.

The Lady jacket is a great wardrobe addition, it can be worn all year long with jeans, skirts, dresses, slacks, etc. It can elevate all of your casual outfits.

Dress up your jeans with pearls and a jacket. This outfit is perfect for lunch with friends, or a night out. You can also switch out the flats for slingbacks or sneakers. Add your favorite pearls and a bag and you are ready for a great day.
On Friday Favorites, I shared a spring outfit using pieces we all have in our closets. Classics never go out of style.

White jeans and a button down shirt are classic wardrobe pieces. The can be worn with ballet flats, sandals, wedges, sneakers and even heels. At this time of the year it is always a good idea to bring a sweater or wrap, in the morning and in the evening, especially in restaurants it can be chilly.
If you are adding pieces to your wardrobe this season, add pieces that you can wear for multiple seasons and year after year. Mix and match new pieces with old favorites.
If you want to see all of the outfits and home goods I share each week on the blog be sure to follow along on LTK.
Books, recipes, including this Irish Potato and Leek soup, interesting links and lots more can be found on the post. You can read Friday Favorites here.

I hope you have a fun St Patty’s Day. I never have liked corned beef or cabbage, but the soup looks great! Have a good weekened! x Kim
Thank you Kim for sharing my blue eggs. It’s always fun to experiment with something I know nothing about. It is hard to believe a purple cabbage produced those beautiful colors.
Heather is amazing and that house is stunning. I wish I could see it in person.
Corned beef is not my thing either but the soup is right up my alley.
Have a wonderful week and enjoy your beautiful weather. xo
Good morning, Elizabeth! Loved seeing your feature on Heather Chaduck and her residency at Colonial Williamsburg. I’ve been following and enjoying her adventures in Colonial life. Colonial Williamsburg is on my list of places to return … I visited once in the early 90’s and loved every second of it. But needed more time. I didn’t know Quintessence shot a video … I can’t wait to see it. Thank you thank you thank you. Signe’s flowers are amazing. Amazing and beautiful. And, no, it’s hard to believe they’re not real. Absolute artistry. Glad you’re getting some rest after back to back guest and the time change. It’s a lot. Happy weekend! xo
p.s. your Easter carrot craft treats are one of my favorite. So clever and if I were hosting I’d be making them. Love!
Thank you Juliet! The next Easter you host maybe you can try them.
Juliet,
Quintessence and Homeworthy are my 2 favorite sources for beautiful homes and interiors. Isn’t Williamsburg a beautiful place. I was lucky enough to live just 45 minutes away and visited often.
Signe is incredibly talented. I cannot believe her flowers are paper, they look so life like.
Have an amazing week!
