Calming lavender scented epsom bath salts make an easy, and beautiful gift for everyone on your holiday list.

Self-care is always important but especially during the holidays when life is very busy and sometimes stressful. A warm, comforting bath at the end of the day with lavender scented epsom salts is the perfect way to unwind and shed the cares of the world. At least for a little while. Add a glass of wine or champagne, a book, and some soft music for an added indulgence.
I realize that just yesterday we were munching on Snicker bars and Reeses’ pumpkins while greeting trick or treaters but Christmas will be here before we know it. I am trying to get a head start by making some of my gifts early.
Lavender Scented Epsom Bath Salts
Lavender Scented Epsom Bath Salts are an easy, economical homemade gift to give to family and friends or to make for yourself.
I like to give them in a vintage bowl with a silver-plated spoon or small wood scoop. Then I wrap the bowl in cellophane, tie with a pretty ribbon.
The bath salts can also be added to a gift basket with other self care items, including soap, sponges, a book, candle and a few chocolate bars.
You could add some Christmas cookies, a bottle of wine or champagne too, the possibilities are endless. My suggestion is to add to the basket whatever you would enjoy receiving and your recipient will love it.

How to Make DIY Lavender Scented Bath Salts
Ingredients
Half a cup of corse salt salt or sea salt
1/4 cup of baking soda
25 drops of lavender essential oil
Sprigs of dried lavender buds
For Gifting
Jar or Vintage Bowl, cellophane bags
Ribbon
Directions
1. Mix the epsom salt, coarse salt and baking soda together in a bowl.
2. Add the drops of lavender essential oil to the bowl and mix again.
3. Add as many lavender sprigs and flowers as you like to the salts and mix one more time.
4. Pour bath salts into a jar. Add a bow and a tag, place in a basket with a bath sponge, a beautiful bar of soap, a candle, some matches, a book and maybe a bottle of wine or champagne.
Or place the salts in a vintage bowl, wrap in cellophane wrap, tie with a bow and add a gift tag.

Note 1:
Essential oils are very strong and some people may be allergic to them, if you are pregnant, have a skin condition, Asthma, or are in doubt seek the advice of a doctor. And remember to keep all oils out of reach of children.
Note 2:
If you are worried about a mess in your tub from the lavender buds or you simply do not like the buds, you can either omit them or place the lavender salts into cheesecloth bags and drop that into the tub.

What a great idea Elizabeth – your version looks so pretty in those lovely photos.
All I would need to go along with them would be someone to help me get back out of the bath tub! Don't laugh, just know that the shower is the only way to go at my age. . . . . feel my pain!!!!
This is a great idea. I like to give consumable gifts to adults, and I know a few folks who would appreciate bath salts. Thanks for the tutorial! Do you mind if I share this in my newsletter? I would talk about it and include a link to this post.
