Monday Musings No.189
Good morning friends, it’s Fall. The magical season of leaf peeping, cozy routines, and the scents of wood fires, fallen leaves, and everyones’ favorite warm spices in pumpkin and apple desserts.
This is our season to get back into a routine, and to savor the cooler weather before the cold of winter comes.
Although the calendar says it’s Fall is hasn’t felt like it here this week, we are still in the high 80s’ and will be for at least another week. That’s ok, I can make my own magic early in the morning when it’s cool and cozy.
We had a quiet weekend, lots of walks, bike rides, and a few small projects at the house. We are gearing up for the busy season of the next 3 months, lots of travel, guests, the holidays and fun along with concerts, parties, etc.
Tell me about your weekend? What did you do?
On to +5 Things!
1.Read~The Flower Hunters Cottage
When the world seems dark I retreat into carefree, escapist books, preferably set in Scotland, Britain or anywhere else that is moody and romantic. This weekends read was all of that and more.

Mairead is a botanical artist, gardener and quilter. She leases the flower hunter’s cottage in the Scottish Highlands. She plans to get away from the city and finish the floral artwork for her new book along with her quilt designs.
As part of the lease agreement she has to take care of the traditional cottage garden while the owner, the flower hunter, is away working abroad, searching for a new species of flower.
Mairead arrives at the cottage in January. After settling in, she meets handsome flower grower, Tavion, and Ethel a knitter who spins and dyes her own yarn. While making new friends, Mairead is keen to get on with her artwork and quilting – and get the garden ready for the spring and summer. Romance isn’t on her to-do list, but when it comes to love, nothing goes according to plan.
The Flower Hunter’s Cottage is filled with flowers, artwork, knitting, quilting, baking cakes, gardening and romance.

4. SHOPPING BREAK~Outfit of the Day

A casual fall outfit is about layers, after all the weather is all over the place. Start with a comfy pair of jeans, add a pair of Chelsea boots, a t-shirt, then a sweater and top with a barn coat. You can wear this tailgating, to the farmers market, out to do errands or taking a walk in the neighborhood.

Barbour is my favorite but there are so many great ones this year, like the one in this outfit that is very similar to a plaid Barbour wax jacket that I have had for years!
