A weekend update + 5 Things: what I read, watched, and discovered this weekend on Monday Musings.
MUSINGS
Good morning friends! It’s a beautiful Monday morning, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping and there is a hum in the air from the groundskeeper on the golf course. Everything looks fresh and clean this morning after a light rain last night.
The weekend was busy and filled with mundane chores and a sprinkle of fun too. I worked the garden for a bit planting sweet potatoes and russet potatoes, as well as sprinkling wild flower seed wherever I thought a pop of color would look good. We shall see what comes up.
As for the sweet potatoes, I have never planted vegetables. But I had 12 little plants from the nursery and with the information provided by a local farmer I set to work. Let me preface this by saying, I do not have a vegetable garden, I didn’t even know what I bought. I thought I was buying decorative sweet potato vines for my containers. That said, I have very low expectations that I will have a little crop of sweet potatoes but we will see, if nothing else the deer will enjoy munching on the plants.

The other containers, peonies, and foxglove are doing well and my meadow is finally showing a few signs of life. There are tiny little plants scattered here and there. I am resisting the urge to reseed because I think many of the seeds were washed away in the heavy rains. Maybe I just need a little more patience. If you want to turn your lawn into a meadow I recommend reading this book.
Today I am off on an adventure with my aunt. I am a little bleary eyed because we stayed up late talking, and catching up.
If you have experience with sweet potatoes please share your tips. I am open to learning new things.
Ok, on to +5 things!
1.READ
The Wildflowers
Tony and Althea Wilde. Glamorous, argumentative . . . adulterous to the core. They were my parents, actors known by everyone. They gave our lives love and colour in a house by the sea – the house that sheltered my orphaned father when he was a boy.
But the summer Mads arrived changed everything. She too had been abandoned and my father understood why. We Wildflowers took her in.
My father was my hero, he gave us a golden childhood, but the past was always going to catch up with him … it comes for us all, sooner or later. This is my story. I am Cordelia Wilde. A singer without a voice. A daughter without a father. Let me take you inside.

4. FINDS

blue&white dress//sandals//bag//earrings//perfume
As you know I love dresses and lately there have been so many pretty pieces popping up at all price points. My favorites lately have come from Abercrombie & Fitch, well made, reasonably prices and they looks beautiful on. I also purchased a few linen blend from H&M and they are some of my new favorites, this one is classic and beautiful and this one is comfortable and a little more contemporary, it reminds me of a Matisse collage.
By the way, J.Crew has some beautiful new pieces! I have this green sweater in my cart.
