Flowers are a popular gift for many special occasions. On Mother’s Day they are the most popular gift given.  In fact 64% of all Mother’s Day gifts are flowers and 3 billion dollars will be spent on them. Make your flowers extra special by taking the time to find the perfect vase to hold them and maybe add a secret code as you pick out your flowers and their colors.

Where to Find Vintage Containers?

Vintage vases, gravy boats, transfer ware pitchers and the like are easy to find and a beautiful gift in addition to the flowers. While you are searching for Mother’s Day make sure to pick up something extra, like a tray for taking cupcakes to a bbq this summer or an addition “vase” or two to use as hostess gifts.

You can buy flowers or a plant at most markets or garden centers. Keep in mind that the prices are raised during popular holidays. But if you want a one of a kind Mother’s Day floral arrangement why not head outside and forage?

Foraging for flowers is one of my favorite ways to make an arrangement. The other is the addition of fresh herbs from the grocery store. I like to use the herbs as the greenery in the bouquets.
