Good morning, another hurricane season is upon us and I am already weary. To be honest I don’t feel like a hurricane right now(does anyone ever), it has been the longest, hottest, wettest, stormiest, summer here and the ground is saturated. I am tired of rain and wind and heat, I want some cool Fall weather. I am in the midst of purging and decluttering the house and there are piles and boxes in every room so preparing for a hurricane isn’t on my to do list. At least it wasn’t until today.
Now I am getting ready to batten down the hatches because they say the worst storm in 60 years is coming my way. Although we are not going to get a direct hit(at least for now) we are going to have the force hurricane winds, and flooding. I have been moving all of the lawn furniture and containers to one end of the deck to cluster them together, trimming a few of the branches of the crepe myrtles that are too close to the house and getting supplies.
Yesterday I stood in line at the Kroger, I think with my entire town, getting provisions. The usual things like water, peanut butter, fruits, veggies, caned goods and comfort foods. That is in addition to batteries, candles, and lots of magazines and books. I have my pups provisions and paperwork as well. Jut in case.
For now I will be checking the weather and praying that all in the path of Florence are safe.
If you are in the path of the hurricane here is a checklist of important items you need. Also be sure to check with you local government to see if you are in an evacuation zone and which one it is so that if you need to evacuate you are ready.

Be safe my friend. We did it last year for Irma. Living in paradise does have it's downfalls sometimes! We have one client who is struggling with decluttering and she joked the other day she'd let Flo take it all! Ouch!
I've been listening to the updates for this one. Be safe, my friend.

It's a good idea to be prepared. Maybe getting some of that lawn stuff inside would be worth doing.
Your summer seems much the same as ours, in PA. Crazy hot and humid or days of pouring rain. The north side of our house is green with mildew, as are other homes. My outdoor cushions and pillows have been stored many more days than out. Now Florence, which at this point we are not see much of, but that could change. Be safe, and be well . . .
Prayers for you and everyone in harms way.
