WEEKEND MEANDERINGS

Good morning and a happy Saturday to you! It’s time for weekend meandering with Kim and Juliet, our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interest and caught our eye over the past week.

Goodness, it seems as if we have been gone for months instead of just a few weeks. If you have taken a break too I hope that you enjoyed every minute. And if you are easing into the New Year take all the time that you need, there is no rush.

Today is the last of the 12 Days of Christmas, the Feast of the Epiphany, or Three Kings Day, it also happens to be my sisters birthday. This is a big celebration day for a lot of people. When we lived in VA our neighbors were from Spain and they always celebrated this day with copious amounts of hot chocolate and a Roscón de Reyes cake. I’ve never perfected this scrumptious yeast cake filled with cream but I keep trying.

What are your plans this weekend? We are headed out this morning to a horse and hound event. It is very chilly so I am not sure how long we are going to last outside but at least long enough to see the horses.

Aside from that we have no plans and that is fine by me, I am still in my nesting, vacation mode.

Ok, let’s get to it.

5 Favorite Mocktail Recipes for Dry January

Many people like to give their body a post holiday reset, they eliminate sugar, carbs, do clenses and juice fasting, as well as, quit drinking for Dry January. Although this is typically done the entire month of January apparently there is a trend on Tik-Tok to do just a week and supposedly you get the same benefits.

What are the benefits of dry January you ask? Better sleep, more energy, improved skin, weight loss, lower cholesterol and blood pressure and you can save money too.

If you are participating and taking a break this month here are a few Mocktails, that you might enjoy. For those not doing Dry January check out all of Juliets’ cocktails they are delicious!

  1. Hi Elizabeth happy new year!
Really like this post today and especially the mock tails! I’ve been doing that a lot with Pom juice, and it feels really healthy with seltzers and orange slices! These all look so good. Cutting drinking out except for once in a while has really been a good thing for both me and my husband and I. We were never big drinkers, but we really don’t miss it much and now just do it on occasion going out. We sleep so much better and feel better too.

Lizette’s style is really wonderful. I will have to go on a deep dive and I need to catch up on the videos of Susannah. Thank you for the little goals and questions! Such a smart way to start the year off!

  2. Happy New Year, Elizabeth! I really enjoyed spending time in Lisette’s Instagram. Her style is so colorful and streamlined … I’m very much drawn to it. Love Quintessence’s house tour videos … and the interviews are always fun and fascinating. Those mocktails are incredibly beautiful … and no doubt delicious. Cheers to 2024! xo
