Good morning friends. Happy Friday to you.
The countdown is on theĀ U.S. Open starts on Monday, and the village is looking mighty fine. There are 240,000 visitors expected over the week, which is a little overwhelming because our entire county only has 100,000 people.
We are excited for all of the golf, parties and fun but the traffic not so much. The good news is that we only live 2 miles from the village so we can walk back and forth to the see the tournament and the concerts.

Wow, having the U.S. Open has been endless preparation. This is so good for your village, it will help the local economy. Lots of parties, do you both golf? We live on a golf course, but we do not golf. I canāt imagine expecting 240,000 visitors when the county only has 100,000 people. Itās so nice you are only 2 miles away, so you can walk. I hope the weather will be good.
Since you are the Queen of the kitchen you will relate to what made me smile. In our kitchen we do not have much counter space. Iām not crazy about cluttering up the counters with appliances. Our blender and toaster is enough. Iāve been using my hand held little mixer for all my baking needs. Well I decided to have my husband carry in my Kitchen Aid Heavy Duty Stand Mixer from my cupboard in the garage. Now I can double my cookie recipes again. Itās going to stay put on the counter because itās a heavy beast. I canāt lift it. This brought me huge smiles. My honey loves Ina Gartenās Oatmeal Raisin. Pecan cookies. Iāve been baking those for 22 years I think. I sometimes take some of the batter and mix in coconut and chocolate chips. I take out the raisins . So yummy.
I ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø Downton Abbey. Have you read Aprons and Silver Spoons? It looks like a page turner.

Katherine, they have been working since February. The entire 189 acre course has an 8ft fence around it. I lost count of the temporary buildings, etc that they have erected. There is a 34,000 sq.ft merchandise tent! It is going to be great for the village and the businesses but also a little bit of a challenge for people who are not attending and that still have to work. We met people who were stuck in traffic the last time it was here for 3 hours to go 20 miles.
As you said, we can walk back and forth and that is what we will do, we do it every weekend to go to the Farmers market and the club. I just cannot fathom that many people, it is going to be interesting. Many of our friends had “skipped town” and rented their houses.
I hate things on my counter tips, and it makes my husband crazy. I carry my kitchen aid back and forth from the pantry. Happy that you now have yours in the house! Now it is there to remind you that baking and sweet treats are fun to make and to be enjoyed.
I just ordered Aprons & Silver but it does look great.
