WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Good Saturday morning to you friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Juliet, Kim and I! We’re all back together again for the first time since July. Join us as we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye this week.
Are you a trendsetter, a trend follower or do you forge your own path? There is a new trend every day so it is a little hard to keep track. But I have to say that some of them are a little strange and ridiculous. Ok, not some, a lot of them. Others are interesting and fun.
Very Demure anyone? I cannot tell you how many times I have heard that this week! Why? What does it even mean and I do not mean literally. I know the definition of demure but what the heck is “very demure” and why is everyone describing themselves with this term? Please explain it to me. For those in the know I guess it is the replacement term for Brat Summer.

Fridgescaping
Fridgescaping? In case you missed the trend, is decorating the inside of your refrigerator. Accessorizing the fridge with vases of flowers, photos in frames, adding stacks of books and even decorating the inside for the holidays with mini trees, gingerbread houses and ornaments. Some of these fridgescaping posts, like Fridgerton(above) have been seen 6 MILLION times.
By the way our blogger friend, Kathy, author of Good Life of Design from the “good old days” of blogging coined that term in 2010. Proving that everything old is new again. She wrote a blogpost about keeping your fridge neat, clean and accessorized with bowls of fruit and nice glass containers.
I asked Kathy what she thought of the resurgence of fridgescaping, and she said, she is too practical to decorate with books and plants but that “she appreciates the creativity and the joy that it brings to people.” For the record, she was interviewed by Food & Wine and given credit for the term.
As for me, I don’t get it. My fridge is filled with food and there is no room for little statues, books or anything else. That said, life is short, do what makes you happy. If adding photos and statues to the food in your fridge brings you joy then enjoy.
Ok, let’s meander.

September 11
Three days ago was the 23rd anniversary of September 11. Like many I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing on that fateful day. As time goes on people forget the many good things about that day, the extraordinary things that brought us together, and reaffirmed our faith in humanity.
Boatlift was one of those things. If you have not watched this documentary narrated by Tom Hanks I encourage you to do so.
Pencil & Paper Collaboration with Marks and Graham

Did you see the new Pencil & Paper collaboration with Marks and Graham? Gen Sohr has created a colorful collection of small accessories and entertaining pieces for your home. I love the aprons, the dominos, the napkins and the block print travel pouches.
Many of which would make great gifts for birthdays or the upcoming holidays. It is never too early to start your holiday preparations.

House Tour Elyce Arons, Francis Valentine
Elyce Arons is the co-founder of Kate Spade and Francis Valentine. Recently she shared her house on HomeWorthy and I think you will love it. It is a beautiful 200 year old townhouse in NY with preserved molding, lighting and other period details. It is infused with style, color, personality and art from Elyce and her family.
Leopard is a Neutral

Leopard is everywhere this Fall and Winter. It is one of those patterns that you either love or hate. I personally think leopard and animal prints are a neutral and yet a statement piece as well.
This season you can get leopard shoes, belts, scarves, dresses, boots, skirts, shirts, sweaters and jackets in addition to the pieces for your home.
That said, my personal preference is for a belt, shoes, handbag, scarf and occasionally a sweater. Pants, skirts and dresses do not suit my style.
What about you? Are you a leopard lover or is this a bit of fall fashion that you will pass on?

On My Radar

I still have my leopard print chiffon scarf that my daughter frequently borrowed in high school and she just celebrated 30 years of married life. Even her high school girlfriend would asked to borrow it so I’ll be pulling it out this fall. I wish my old leopard flats were still around but they wore out years ago. Being hard to fit it’s unlikely I can find another pair but they went with so many things, a true neutral that always got compliments. This fridge scape trend is a waste of my time, I’d be happy if it were at least organized but that won’t happen either. so what is Brat Summer? Im behind on all the trends.
Pencil & Paper has such beautiful products. Fridgescaping. I’ve never heard of that one. I want my refrigerator to be neat and appealing when I open the door, but nothing else. Seems like other things would just take up space needed for food. Just wanted you to know that I put my information down below and always click the box to save it, but it never does.

Elizabeth, Fun things here.. So excited for fall. The fridgescaping cracks me up.. When you have too much time and money? I love that our pal Kathy coined the term. The demure thing is just audio off a tiktok video someone made and then everyone overused. It’s saturated and just as bad as ‘eating the pets’ will be by next week.
Love Pencil & Paper Co. My passport cover is from them and says HOWDY . LOL. Yes cute Xmas ideas.
I adored the Elise’s NY home too.
Your spice bread is going on my next to bake list.. I have to wait until there are kids around to help eat them or I’d be having it all. Chocolate makes everything better.
Both outfits are so cute- especially the loafers. Getting all my leopard things out of the closet !
Have a great weekend !
xo
P.S. Missed doing this with you gals! xx
I love leopard print in small batches like shoes or a bag.Thankfully l have bought both some time ago. Sezane have some lovely animal print looks and who doesn’t love Sezane.
Have an easy weekend!
Good morning, Elizabeth! Fridgescaping?! I’ve heard the term lately and thought it referred to organization – a la The Home Edit – but nope. Seriously … books, framed photos (could all that moisture be good for them?), it’s madness. I’m with you, my fridge holds food and there’s not room for much else. And to think I was so proud that mine is organized with plastic bins. Not at all demure or mindful! Pencil and Paper + Marks & Graham is a match made in heaven. Adore those colorful pieces … especially the napkins. Aren’t Homeworthy Tours the best. After each tour I don’t think it can get better and then it does. Thanks for the tip on Boatlift. We’ll watch it tonight. So happy we’re all back together again after a lovely summer break. Happy weekend! xo
Happy weekend Elizabeth! I am dying reading this because the other night I was watching fridgescaping videos on TikTok and my hubby thought I was nuts lol. It’s just so satisfying to watch! Hope you have a great weekend!
Your blog has become my favorite. I also learn so much and don’t feel like you are only on this platform to sell me something like most blogs have turned into. I feel like I’m reading a good magazine when I read your blog. Keep up the good work, it is appreciated.
Thank you! That is very kind of you to say. I hope that you have a wonderful week.
