Weekend Meanderings

Good Saturday morning friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Kim and Juliet. Join us as we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye this week.

How was your week friends? As I mentioned yesterday, the last 4 days have been a cool, gray respite from the heat of the last few months. The heat will be back this week and perhaps the sun too. With all of the rain week my garden beds are lush, green and beautiful. Unfortunately, so are the weeds, which have taken over my wildflower circle.

I’ve been lucky enough to have humming birds visiting the last remaining flowers the deer have not eaten each morning. It is a beautiful way to start the day.

I have so many great things to share this weekend so let’s meander friends.

One to Follow~Chateau de Dampierre

All I can say about Chateau de Dampierre is WOW! This petit chateau located in the Champagne region is like a fairytale. It is owned by Dr. Antoni Calman, a surgeon who divides his time between Paris and this beautiful country house. Follow along to watch the restoration of the gardens and the chateau.

Keith Johnson~Homeworthy Country House Tour

For years and years I have wondered what happened to Keith Johnson, the buyer for Anthropologie and now I know. He moved with his partner and the former CEO of Anthropologie(now head of Boden) to the UK.
Do you remember way back when, 15 years or so ago when Keith traveled the world and documented it all on Man Shops Globe? I was glued to my tv as Keith met artists and ordinary people to find the most interesting and unique furniture, objects, fabric, and art for Anthropologie.
Sit back and relax as you tour the house and learn all about the objects in the house, it’s fascinating.

Roman and Williams Guild NY~In the Studio

I am fascinated by design and love learning about the process from start to finish. These amazing designers, Robin and Steven of Roman and Williams, got their start on movie sets, including Practical Magic, Addicted to Love, Zoolander and many more. Then they transitioned into houses, hotels and exhibitions for The Met.

You will love this video and their work!

One to Watch~Ella McCay

Ella McCay is on my list of movies to see, after all who doesn’t like a comedy about life and family? Just a little reminder we all have “messy lives” despite what social media tries to tell us.

  1. Bravo!! Your Saturday post was the best since I’ve been subscribed, several years at least. Absolutely loved all the wonderful links you provided. Thanks.

  2. I absolutely LOVED the article The Magic of Everyday Noticing. I like to think I do that. That I slow my world down and live in the moment and take in all that’s around me. The little sounds and sights of my world. Such a talented writer from The Good Trade. Made me remember that website and how I need to check it out more. Thanks!

    1. Brenda, I loved that article too! I have really been making an effort to “take it all in” as they say. If I am out walking, I look around, I don’t chat on the phone. The first thing I do in the morning is open the front door to look at my flowers, this week when I opened the door there was a humming bird.
The Good trade has great articles.
I hope that you are having a lovely weekend.

  3. This has so many good things…I need to come back we are boarding a flight for home from Key West.

  4. Elizabeth! Sometimes I feel like the only person on earth not in on the plan. Sigh. Keith Johnson? I know nothing. How can it be? I love Anthro. Same with Chateau Dampierre. The good news is I’ll be up to speed be the end of the day thanks to you. I’m so happy to hear you’ve had a break from the heat. And that your garden is doing so well. Isn’t that the best feeling? That and hummingbirds … those delightful little cuties. Happy weekend! xo

  5. Elizabeth! How do I not know about Keith Johnson from Anthropologie!? I love Anthropologie and Biden for that matter! I guess I’ve been living under a rock!
I too love the work of the creators behind RW Guild! I may stop in to their store in SoHo today!
    Xx

  6. Elizabeth, sorry to be so late here to your wonderful post. What a great group of videos. You find the coolest things! I can’t wait to sit and watch them all with a cup of tea. I did not know about Keith Johnson! Looking forward to forest video too.

Your pistachio bread looks so amazing too.
Enjoy your little hummers. We have two hummingbird feeders and a water fountain have them here all day. Love it, though they often get into battles! They love flowering succulents too.
Hope you have a beautiful week. xo
