Weekend Meanderings
Good Saturday morning friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Kim and Juliet. Join us as we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye this week.
Diane Keaton passed away this week, I realize this is not news but it feels shocking doesn’t it? To me it feels as if an old friend has passed which is funny because I am not one that is attached to celebrities.
But with Diane Keaton it was different, she seemed like one of us. She was quirky, funny, interesting, insightful, curious, loved interior design, her dog and, of course her children. She never married, she adopted 2 children in her 50s’, was an author, singer, and so much more. Fashion was a part of her personality, from her hats, belts, jackets and skirts, black and white was a favorite.
Her movies were funny, relatable and fun to watch. One of my all time favorite things about her is that she seemed so genuine, her smile seemed to light up the screen and her face was lined with the experiences of life, a rarity in Hollywood.
I will miss her. If you want to read two beautiful tributes to Diane, check out Cindy and Kims’ blog posts. They were both eloquently written and said what I think many of us feel.
Ok, let’s meander.
House Tours
The Medlock-Graham House
Writers Ann Medlock and John Graham never expected to build a house. But when they were priced out of their New York apartment, they found themselves on the other side of the continent, with land in the woods on Whidbey Island, Washington—and no house. Through serendipitous timing, they were able to enlist the help of architect Christopher Alexander and The Center for Environmental Structure to design and build their dream home. The result is a warm embrace of a house, exultant with beauty, playfulness, and spirit, employing many of the patterns described in Alexander’s 1977 book, A Pattern Language. The Medlock-Graham House was later featured in Alexander’s seminal work, The Nature of Order, and cited by Alexander himself as one of his most successful buildings.

Movie Suggestions

Hampstead
In honor of Diane Keaton, one of her last movies. It is available on Prime, Youtube and many other streaming services.
Winter Survival
I love history and learning new things. This week I came across this interesting video about surviving life in the Middle Ages. If you have ever romanticized life in the “old days” this will set you straight.
Speaking of history, I have been listening to these podcasts Royals. Rebels and Romantics, and History Tea Time. If you like English history then you might enjoy them. You can also listen and watch them on Youtube.
It’s Party Time~Boden Holiday Clothes
Family gatherings, company parties, nights at the ballet, dinners with friends and everything in between. It’s almost party season, what will you be wearing?
Truth be told, I have not been to a company work party since pre-covid. But we do have a few other events on the calendar so I am on the lookout for something to wear.
Boden released its party edit this week and there are some beautiful dresses, sweaters, shoes, etc that would look great all season long. Many of them can be worn year after year because of their classic silhouettes.
I love the black and gold skirt, the black spotted dress and of course the plaid shoes.

In Case You Missed It This Week on the Blog
It was a busy week on the blog.
Sunday I shared my King of Christmas collaboration. This year they gifted me a fabulous 9ft flocked tree and I love it! I decorated it with my marbled ornaments that I made last year, although I had to make several more as this tree is larger than my other tree.
Speaking of ornaments, if you want to make a few ornaments for your tree, try these easy cinnamon ornaments and these dried oranges.Or make this easy, 2 “ingredient” pinecone wreath, no glue or wire.
On Monday I shared another plaid coat along with The Poppy and the Rose, Victoria and Albert Museum, Fall Fashion and more on Monday Musings.
Tuesday and Wednesday I shared the easiest Halloween treats, Oreo, Candy Bark and Mummy Rice Krispie Treats.
Life is short friends, make a Fall bucket list, I shared 25 Fall Ideas to put on your list to make the most of the season.
Did you see the John Derian x Target Christmas Collection? It drops this weekend! This year I hope to get the tray, candle and one of the pillows!
Last but not least, Friday Favorites, including this outfit and this scrumptious pumpkin lasagna with crispy sage!
