I love books and think they are the perfect gift for any holiday or celebration. Adults love them and so do kids. Giving books to kids while they are young helps foster a life long love of reading and learning. I put together a list of 25 Christmas books for kids that I think they will love and so will you.
The holidays are a busy and sometimes stressful. The next few weeks will be filled with parties, buying and wrapping gifts, baking and lots of running around. So why not take some time to relax and make memories too?
Let your kids pick a book each day and sit as a family, with a cup of hot chocolate and read it together. Those are the “gifts” that you can’t buy. The memories will stay with you and your kids or grand kids forever.

Twas the Night Before Christmas
Once upon a time, children imagined St. Nicholas as a stern, skinny bishop who was as likely to dole out discipline as Christmas presents. Advent Book Calendar
Advent calendars are a wonderful way to count down the days until Christmas. This year, why not try something new? An Advent Book Calendar? If you have the time wrap 25 books for your kids or grandkids Advent Calendar. Attach a piece of candy or two for them to enjoy while reading the book with you. Add them to a basket and you are all set for a fun activity to do every day in the run up to Christmas.
This is wonderful Christmas tradition and is something that you can continue year after year.
If you don’t already have 25 Christmas books for your kids it can be expensive to run out and purchase them all at once
I suggest:
- wrap some Christmas books that they already own.
- purchasing a few books each year to add to your collection.
- Borrow some from the library.
- Pick some up at the thrift store.
- Read FREE books on your Kindle.

Hi Elizabeth, Great post and a wonderful idea to read a holiday book everyday till Christmas. The Mercer Mayer “Critter” books were always a family favorite. However, “The Mitten” may be my all time favorite children’s book. The illustration’s are so beautiful. And of course, “The Night Before Christmas” is the perfect book to wrap up the reading. As always, thrifting for books is a great suggestion.
