After a busy two weeks this weekend we have no plans. The only thing I want to do is read and stay inside because it’s going to be hot! What are your plans for the weekend?

BOOKS~ ON MY LIST AND MY BEDSIDE TABLE

The Woman Who Painted Seasons book cover.

The Woman Who Painted the Seasons

Katie from Preppy Empty Nester suggested this book and I really enjoyed it.

All Lee Krasner ever wanted was to be an artist. Passionate and determined, she pursued her dream. By her twenties she was Hans Hofmann’s best student, and a vanguard of America’s first art movement, along with de Kooning, Kline and Pollock. But for most of the twentieth century, art was a man’s world, and even her peers failed her. Another obstacle for Lee was her marriage to Jackson Pollock, whose star shone so brightly, it cast a shadow over everything around it, eventually self-destructing.
The Woman Who Painted The Seasons is a vivid recreation of the tragedies and triumphs of Lee’s life, including her determination to be recognized for her art and her passion to ensure Jackson Pollock achieve the success he deserved.

The Satisfaction Cafe book cover.

The Satisfaction Cafe

Joan’s life is a series of unexpected events: she never thought she would live in California, nor did she expect her first marriage to implode—especially as quickly and spectacularly as it did. She definitely did not expect to fall in love with an older, wealthy American man and become his fourth wife and mother to his youngest children.

Joan and her children grow older, and one day she makes a drastic change: she opens the Satisfaction Café, a place where customers can find connection through conversation. With humor and grace, Joan creates a space for meaningful relationships and constructs a lasting legacy.

Vivid, comic, and profoundly moving, The Satisfaction Café is a novel about found family, the joy and loneliness that come with age, andhow we can seek satisfaction at any stage oflife. This is a novel of tremendous pleasures:sentences that teem with rich observations, wonderful plotting, and, in Joan, a protagonistfor the ages.

The Garden Plot.

The Garden Plot

Dallas girl Pru’s always dreamed of living in England — a country of lush green gardens, endless drizzle and ruggedly handsome groundskeepers.

She moves to London on a whim, to find that no one in the city wants to hire her. Except for wealthy Vernona Wilson, who’s quite desperate to be rid of her unsightly old potting shed.

Pru dusts off her spade and gets to work, under the watchful eye of a snooping neighbor. She expects to dig up dirt. But nothing like this.

An ancient Roman mosaic and a bludgeoned body. Whose secrets has she stumbled on, buried in the soil?

Dishy Detective Christopher Pearse is on the case. But Pru can’t wait for him to piece it all together.

Not when there’s a brutal killer out there who thinks she’s already dug much too deep . . .

SHOPPING~OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Summer Style Fashion over 50, white shorts, blue shirt, Paris sweatshirt, wicker tote and a pair of white tennis shoes..

Yes, it is still hot but I am dreaming of cooler days where I can layer my outfits. This classic look reminds me of back to school season. Hot enough for shorts but needing a sweatshirt at night.

Pair your linen shorts and shirt with a sweatshirt or a sweater, your favorite tennis shoes and a tote. I have worn outfits similar to this my whole life and in fact wore these ver same tennis shoes in high school. It is a comfortable and cosy look.

  1. Hi Elizabeth,
Congratulations on becoming a great auntie. An exciting time in your life and families.
Have a nice and mellow relaxing weekend.

  2. Enjoy your posts. New babies are the best. We have enjoyed Niçoise salad lately with steel head trout instead of the tuna. This fish is so much more moist than salmon. We really like itl

I have started reading The Mandeville Secret. I think it is going to be good. It is a sequel to A Time to Change which I thought was a good read.

    1. Kay, thank you! That is kind of you to say.
Your salad sounds like something my husband would love. I myself do not eat seafood.
I enjoyed the Mandeville Secret. My favorite book lately was The Blue which I shared on Monday.
      Have a wonderful weekend.
      xo
