Monday Musings No. 178
Good morning friends, happy Monday. I miss not posting Weekend Meanderings on Saturday but it has been a nice little break. How was your 4th of July weekend?
I was a little confused because the 4th fell on Friday. Like many towns the celebrations here and the fireworks were on Thursday. Friday we went to the parade, a bbq and then spent the day paddle boarding and having fun in the sun at the lake. By the time we got home I was wiped out. Consequently Saturday I didn’t feel like doing anything.
We did rustle ourselves out for a bike ride in the late afternoon and on the way home we went off road. Sadly I hit a rut and fell over onto my shoulder. The gear box left a big gash on my knee as the handle bars slammed into the ground. Oddly enough my husband was riding behind me and concentrating so hard not to fall that he didn’t even see me wipe out.
Thankfully other than the gash on my knee and some bruising on my leg and shoulder I am great. No broken shoulder, no messed up knee. The only thing that suffered was my bike, the gear box, I think that is what it is called broke and I have to get it fixed. From now on I will stick to the trails and the greenway.
Sunday was a crazy day, the storm came through and dumped about 7-9 inches of rain. I am so thankful that we did not have any problems, others in the country were not so lucky. There were flash floods, trees down, no water and all sorts of other problems.

Speaking of storms, if you live in Texas and would like to share reputable local places to donate money or goods please do. My heart breaks for the families who are still waiting for news of their loved ones. I cannot fathom a 22 ft wall of water and the destruction that it left behind.
On to +4 Things!
1.Read~The Bucket List

I’ve never been the thrill-seeker type. At forty-nine, I still refuse to ride a roller coaster, let alone leap out of a plane. I’ve always thought people who do those things—especially my best friend, Monica—were a little nuts. And now, I’m sitting here, staring at a list of daredevil stunts she’s somehow left for me… during her will reading.
I swear, if it’s possible to get back at someone in the afterlife, I’m going to find a way.
Turns out, my adventurous, life-of-the-party best friend left me her estate. But there’s a catch—surprise, surprise. I have to complete her bucket list. Not mine. Hers. And I’ve got to finish it all before I hit the big 5-0 because she didn’t make it there herself.
Is it wrong to want to kill someone who’s already dead? Because I’m feeling pretty murderous right now.
Still, I can’t just walk away. I want to honor her last wish… and okay, I kind of want that beach house she left me, too. But let’s be honest—the next few months are either going to completely change my life or land me in heaven right alongside her.

4. SHOPPING BREAK~Summer Outfit
Simple, casual and chic. A skirt and t-shirt are one of my favorite summer outfits. All you need to do is add shoes and a bag and you are ready for the day. The skirt and sweater are on sale at Boden along with so many other pieces I have shared over the last few weeks.

Summer Sales
There are so many sales this week, Amazon Prime, Target Circle, Nordstroms Anniversary sale and many more. Are you shopping? Jennifer had a great post this week about shopping the sales and how not to get caught up in the deals. Before you shop you might enjoy reading it.
I’ll be honest, I love to look and share the sales but I am trying not to buy anything, I just don’t need more clothes and stuff. That said, I am buying this shampoo and this collagen powder(it’s my favorite flavor) although I am not sure if they will be on sale.
THAT’S ALL FOR NOW

On My Radar~ Summer Style

Hi Elizabeth,
I’m so sorry to hear about your bicycle accident. What you described it sounds like you are lucky nothing broke. Hopefully you will not be in too much pain as you heal.
Katherine, thank you! I am so lucky I thank God. How was your 4th of July? And how is the weather? Are you getting a break from the 113 weather?
Have a lovely week!
I feel for those unfortunate people in Texas. Right at the time much of FEMA has been shut down and weather sources have been eliminated by the powers that be.
Brenda,
I am heartbroken for all of the people in Texas. It is so sad to see the faces of the people who are missing.
Have a great week!
Hi Elizabeth,
We had a nice quiet 4th of July, celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary. It takes very little to make us happy. We played Scrabble and exchanged handcrafted cards. My husband created a card that was very touching. Our garden roses and inside a poem by Robert Burns, “A Red, Red Rose. Thanks for asking.
It’s still so very hot, we are out today to see my Rheumatologist then shopping this afternoon. I make sure we have lots of water. I always say a prayer that we arrive home safely and surround our car with Guardian Angels.
In Arizona people drive crazy fast, sometimes it feels like it’s still the wild West.
Have a lovely day.
Katherine,
Happy anniversary! It sounds like the perfect way to celebrate. I love handcrafted cards, they are so special.
How was your doctors appointment? I hope that it went well.
I too pray when we get in the car, there are a lot of people in my neighborhood and village that should have given up their license long ago.
Have a beautiful day friend.
Hi Elizabeth,
My appointment was for knee injections. My knees are bad, being a runner, and ran way too long and did too many marathons in my younger days did not do me any favors. I have RA, I see my Rheumatologist often. Thank goodness for medicine. Yesterday it was 115. Today is my annual mammogram appointment. I always pray till I get the results.
I had an upsetting dream about the lives lost in Texas early this morning. I have found it to be very disturbing, seeing the nightly news does not help.
I know it’s hit your way too.
Have a lovely day.
