Monday Musings No. 180

Good morning friends, happy Monday. Whew, I blinked and the weekend was over. Our weekend started Thursday with my sisters’ birthday party, then Friday my nephew was over to work on his Eagle Scout project with my husband while I worked on projects around the house. Saturday we built shelves inside a hall closet to hold part of our cookbook collection,  then went to dinner with friends. And Sunday, mass with the family and a quick zip home to let the dogs out and a long walk to the club pool to while away the afternoon with friends and family. It was hot so spending the day at the pool floating around, laughing and talking was a nice respite, as well as, a relaxing way to end the weekend.

We have another busy week ahead, a birthday dinner, master bedroom window treatment(s) installation, a landscape consultation, lunch with a friend and work and life in-between.

What about you? Tell me about your weekend? What did you do? Are you traveling on holiday or making the most of summer at home in the garden?

Ok, onto 4 things.

1.Read~The Blue

The Blue book cover.
London 1750s.

Genevieve Planché longs to break free from the constraints of her Huguenot upbringing and follow her dream of becoming an artist. But in a male-dominated world her options are non-existent.

A chance meeting with the charming and dashing Sir Gabriel Courtenay offers Genevieve a rare opportunity. He will help her reach Venice — the city of art — if she infiltrates the famed Derby Porcelain Factory and uncovers the mysteries behind the astonishing new shade of blue they have created.

But Genevieve discovers that the factory’s secrets run deeper than pigments and porcelain. Industrial spies lurk in the shadows, willing to kill for the formula. Even more dangerous is the growing attraction she feels for Thomas Sturbridge, the brilliant but guarded chemist at the heart of the experiments.

When a murder shakes the factory, Genevieve finds herself the prime suspect. Fleeing across England and into the heart of Europe’s most powerful porcelain empire, she must unravel the mystery of the blue before she loses everything — including her life.
