Monday Musings No. 184
Good Monday morning to you friends! Did you have a nice weekend. We had a great weekend. As I mentioned Friday we spent at the pool relaxing and getting ready to tick a bunch of stuff off of our to do list.
Admittedly, the list was a lot longer than a weekend worth of work but we did get a lot done. I have been purging my books, magazines and winter clothes. As much as I hate getting rid of my books I am out of room and if I want to get any more in my lifetime some of my lest favorites are going to new homes.
Saturday my new Christmas tree arrived via Fed-ex. ! Last year I received a tree from King of Christmas and fell in love with the shape and style. This year I ordered the same one but taller. For a moment I thought about opening the box and putting it up. But I think I will wait another few months.
Speaking for Christmas, I mentioned yesterday that over 50% of people buy their Christmas gifts and decor in September. As a blogger we share things earlier than we or you would like but we do it so that you can actually get the items, so many things sell out ahead of time. This is your warning that I will be sharing holiday things starting in September. Not necessarily full blog posts but in my “Holiday Shop.”
Ok, enough about the holidays on to 5 Things.
1.Read~The Tuscan Child

Friday I shared Mrs. Endicott’s Splendid Adventure by Rhys Bowen and loved it! Then Saturday and Sunday I read The Tuscan Child!
In 1944, British bomber pilot Hugo Langley parachuted from his stricken plane into the verdant fields of German-occupied Tuscany. Badly wounded, he found refuge in a ruined monastery and in the arms of Sofia Bartoli. But the love that kindled between them was shaken by an irreversible betrayal.
Nearly thirty years later, Hugo’s estranged daughter, Joanna, has returned home to the English countryside to arrange her father’s funeral. Among his personal effects is an unopened letter addressed to Sofia. In it is a startling revelation.
Still dealing with the emotional wounds of her own personal trauma, Joanna embarks on a healing journey to Tuscany to understand her father’s history—and maybe come to understand herself as well. Joanna soon discovers that some would prefer the past be left undisturbed, but she has come too far to let go of her father’s secrets now…

4. SHOPPING BREAK~Outfit of the Day

Soon it will start to get cool in the evenings and this sweater is a great transitional piece, you can wear it over a skirt, pants, jeans, I love the brown accents. The Panetone color of the year is mocha, I am not sure this is exactly mocha but I think the color is beautiful.

On My Radar~Fall Home

I recently finished Guncle . I’m starting the second book tonight. At first I had David Hyde Pearce in my mind to be the leading man & then towards the end, I’m convinced it should be the great NPH.
I hope you do let us know when you make updates to the Christmas shop as I’d like to be done around Halloween so I too can enjoy the season.
Always enjoy your book recommendations! I just got The Beekeeper’s Cottage. Anxious to start reading! I love to see Christmas ideas in September as well!
