Good morning friends, happy Saturday! It’s time for weekend meandering with Kim and Juliet, our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interest and caught our eye over the past week.
We have another hot day on the horizon, thankfully not 117 as it is in parts of Arizona but still hot. We are headed to the Farmer’s market and then the pool for a bit. After that meeting friends for an early dinner and drinks. What are your plans? If you are going to be out in the heat be sure to hydrate.
Today I am sharing the Tik Tok trend Tomato Girl Summer, some tomato recipes and lots more.

Tomato Girl Summer
It’s officially Tomato Girl summer according to Tik Tok. Last year it was Barbicore, then Coastal Grandmother, then Mermaidcore and this year it’s the effortless style of those who live and vacation along the Mediterranean. It is not just a look it is a lifestyle.
So far Tomato Girl Style has over 209 million views on Tik Tok and bookings to coastal cities in Europe are on the rise to experience it first hand.
What Is the Tomato Girl Aesthetic?
Basically the Tomato Girl is a laid back, effortless style, with minimal make-up, colorful yet comfortable outfits to keep you cool and looking good on hot days while soaking up the Italian coastal sun.
A world where life slows down and one lingers for hours with a cafe or Aperol spritz with friends. Or strolls along the sand with family and friends talking and enjoying a gelato.
Weekends are spent at farmers markets looking for fresh fruits and vegetables and brocantes to find the perfect antiques or collected pieces for your home. Down time is spent reading a book or simply doing nothing.
What does a Tomato Girl Look Like?
While there isn’t one specific look for a tomato girl some on Tik Tok have worn red like a tomato or food printed clothes, others just paint their nails red to add a pop of color to their white linen dress. It’s a fashion statement that may include:
- effortless and laid back style
- minimal makeup
- over size sunglasses
- colorful(not just red) and comfortable outfits
- linen and cotton, light flowing fabrics
- straw hats and bags
- romantic inspired silhouettes, maxi and midi dresses and skirts
- gold jewelry
- statement earrings
Whatever tomato girl is I think we can all use more of it in our life. Slow down, put the phones away and enjoy the long summer days. Make lots of memories to keep you warm on the cold winter nights that will be here sooner than we think.

The Tik Tok trends crack me up. It’s like they were named by 18 year olds.. I love the Mediterranean lifestyle and aesthetic! I took a few photos of Italian women when I was in Sorrento and they do know how to chill and enjoy summer! Love your pics of dresses and totes.

Elizabeth! Tomato Girl Summer?! This is news to me … I love it! I have a few tomato plants thriving in my garden but quite a ways from producing usable fruit. In the meantime my local market and farmers market will have to provide for my favorite summer tomato recipes. Caprese salad, of course, tomato topped bruschetta and pico de gallo. Yum. As for the aesthetic … I’m still back in last year’s Coastal grandmother phase. Thanks for enlightening me … I’m going to google … or TikTok right now to learn more. Love that Mexican corn dip you posted … printed recipe and it’s definitely going to be on the menu in the near future. Hope you’re able to stay cool as a cucumber and enjoy the weekend! xo
