WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Good morning and a happy Saturday to you! It’s time for weekend meandering with Kim and Juliet, our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interest and caught our eye over the past week.
How was your week my friends? Are you feeling or seeing any signs of Fall?
The acorns are falling and I’ve seen a smattering of golden leaves but that is about it. We mowed down what was left of the wild flowers as they were going to seed and browning in the heat, and the peonies are starting to wither. Apparently, the natural world knows it is time to get ready for its long winters nap, we only need some cooperation from Mother Nature.
I am headed to the farmers market this morning to see if I can find a few mini pumpkins. So far I haven’t seen a pumpkin or a gourd anywhere unless it’s plastic. Then spending the day with family exploring some nearby small towns. What are your plans?
Ok, let’s meander.
One to Follow~House of Hackney

We are searching for wallpaper, something bold, botanical and English, for our powder bath renovation. While perusing Pinterest the House of Hackney. kept popping up. Are you familiar with them?
They are an English company just over a decade old that was founded by Frieda Gormley and Javvy Royle. Freida and Javvy create moody, opulent, maximalist wallpaper, fabric, accessories and furniture that they hope will be cherished for generations to come.

The interesting things about their work is that the papers, furniture and fabric are the statement, the art and the accessory of the room. So although the look is maximalist it is not cluttered and art and accessories are minimal.

Their style and look is not for everyone but there is something to learn from their design, how to they create and their approach to sustainability.
I’ve yet to settle on a wallpaper but I am enthralled by their new house, Trematon Castle in Cornwall which is also available to stay in! Read about their house.
House of Hackney has created a collection for Anthropologie, Barbour and & Other stories.
NJUTA BY NIKI BRANTMARK

Do you follow My Scandinavian Home lifestyle and design blog? Originally from London, Niki moved to Sweden over 10 years ago and began the blog My Scandinavian Home. She shares, home tours, diys, the latest trends, products and lots more.
Niki is not only the writer her blog but also the author of 3 books. In December Nikis’ third book is being released. I think it is going to be my favorite. I love the concept of njuta, savoring life and all of its little moments.

In this inviting and inspirational guide, Niki Brantmark explains njuta and offers advice for incorporating it into any lifestyle. Best of all, you can start right now. At home, take time to savor that first sip of coffee in the morning. Relish a quiet moment while everyone is out—just you, in a cozy corner by the window, basking in the stillness. Outside, enjoy your surroundings, no matter the season or place. Notice the dappled sunlight through the leaves of a tree in summer, or the puff of clouds formed by warm breath in the frigid air of winter. Njuta might be as simple as turning your face to the sun to soak up its wonderful warmth, or to feel the wind in your hair as you bike or drive to work. You’ll find these and many more suggestions in this wonderful guide, including how to discover njuta in moments spent with friends, family, and most importantly, in solitude.
Beautifully designed, idea-filled, and featuring full-color illustrations throughout, this delightful lifestyle guide shows how to relax and consciously seize the moment—no matter how small—to enrich and deepen your life.
Pre-order Njuta for December delivery.
Williams Sonoma~ Botanical Beauty by Morris & Co.

An icon of Arts & Crafts design, the 19th-century British artist, poet and environmentalist William Morris is famed for his botanical textiles and wallpapers, furniture and decorative objects. Founded in 1861, Morris & Co. still creates unique products that uphold his legacy.
The iconic designs and art of William Morris are available in wallpaper, art, textiles and now bedding, pillows, napkins, table settings and more from the new collaboration with Williams Sonoma.
My favorite pieces are the apron, the blue and white salad plates and the pillows. I love to add salad plates to my everyday white dinner plates. It is a great way to add pattern and save money too.

So lovely Elizabeth, the Morris & co, china and table fabrics are particularly lovely. I Agee that sometimes a smaller plate just adds the accent required.
Good Luck on your pumpkin hunt!

Thank you Judith. I love to buy smaller plates, they go with everything!
One of your best best meanderings! House of Hackney is now on my bucket list!
Thank you! Do a deep dive into the House of Hackney website. I did not have time but they are a fascinating couple and their castle is phenomenal.
Elizabeth, those wallpapers are dreamy. I love every single one. Looking forward to seeing what you eventually choose. We’ve had real pumpkins stores for a few weeks but I’m resisting. Hope you had a fun weekend out exploring! xo
Elizabeth sorry I just realized I never finished commenting here! I feel terrible.
I do very much like both House of Hackney and Morris and Company. I’m excited to see what paper you choose!! I’d love to get a plate from the Morris collection. Interesting about Njuta ! Looks like a fun book. I adore the H&M home- and the shop in London is so good. Wish we had it here! I love your picks.
Hope you have a good week Elizabeth.
