FRIDAY FAVORITES NO. 637

Good morning friends! How was your week? It’s Memorial Day weekend, a 3 day weekend for many. Do you have any plans? We have a long list of fun things but sadly it may rain so I am not sure how many we will be able to do.

What about you? Bbq? Day at the beach or pool? The first adventure of summer? Whatever your plans have a wonderful time and be safe.

I have lots to share this week so let’s get to it.

It’s grilling season! The next time you fire up the grill make a few extra pieces of corn to make this grilled corn and tomato salad with avocados and feta.

I grew up in Wisconsin and butter burgers are the best burgers in my opinion.

Broken French

Take a decadent and sizzling armchair vacation to the South of France this summer …

Josie thought she was getting a promotion at her architectural firm, but instead her career implodes. She impulsively takes up her roommates’ offer to nanny for a little girl on a mega yacht in the South of France. Even though she can’t stand boats, this seems like fate giving her an opportunity to lick her wounds in a bucket list paradise while she figures out how to get her life back.

But this little girl she’s arrived to look after has a daddy. A widowed, hot, billionaire of a daddy. And if there’s anything that Josie needs less than having to be stuck on a yacht, no matter how luxurious, it’s an inconvenient and highly-combustible attraction to her new boss. A man who, for all his wealth, is grumpy, conceited, and utterly closed off.

Xavier Pascale is on an emotional island of his own making. It’s just him and his daughter and he likes it that way. He works hard, his shareholders are happy, his best friends are his body guard, and the people who work for him. What’s wrong with that? But then he meets Josephine Marin. Her arrival in his life is like a deep ocean tremor along a catastrophic emotional fault line. And now… well, now, he’s very, very aware of his isolation and his very human need. But he can’t be distracted. When he gets distracted terrible things happen.

Homemaker

When a former friend and devoted mother vanishes, a confident homemaker turned amateur sleuth follows an unexpected trail of scandals and secrets to find her.

Prairie Nightingale is both the midlife mother of two teenage girls and a canny entrepreneur who has turned homemaking into a salaried profession. She’s also fascinated with the gritty details of other people’s lives. So when seemingly perfect Lisa Radcliffe, a member of her former mom-friends circle, suddenly disappears, it’s in Prairie’s nature to find out why.

Given her innate talent for vital pattern recognition, Prairie is out to catch a few clues by taking a long, hard look at everyone in Lisa’s life—and uncovering their secrets. Including Lisa’s. Prairie’s dogged curiosity is especially irritating to FBI agent Foster Rosemare, the first interesting man Prairie has met since her divorce. His square jaw and sharp suits don’t hurt.

But even as the investigation begins to wreak havoc on Prairie’s carefully tended homelife, she’s resolved to use her multivalent homemaking skills to solve the mystery of a missing mom—and along the way discover the thrill of her new sleuthing ambitions.

SHOPPING~OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Fashion over 50 Summer Style with a white and red lobster sweater and blue shorts, sandals and bad, and a charm bracelet with shells.

It’s going to be a great 3-day weekend and summer. This Friday’s outfit is a little whimsical. Lobsters are back again this year and a lobster sweater or shirt paired with shorts, skirts or pants is a great look. A nod to nautical style, or perhaps to your own home state of Maine? Whatever the case they look great.

  1. Interesting links to the articles on Mariska Hargitay and shame on the author at the Sun Times who used AI to create a fake reading list. I much prefer your reading recommendations! Hope the weather cooperates for your planned activities. We have a family wedding shower on Sunday that has rain space, just in case. So looking forward to seeing everyone. I didn’t know you were from Wisconsin! Those butter burgers look decadent!! Might give them a whirl tomorrow.
