FRIDAY FAVORITES NO. 608

Good morning friends, happy Friday. It has been a beautiful week here, really the perfect Fall. We’ve slept with the windows open and woke to a hint of the light of a new day.

Sunny days, crunchy leaves, and a stunning red, green, yellow and orange kaleidoscope of colors.  There is nothing as beautiful as a Fall day. Time seems to slow down and welcomes us to savor natures last hurrah before winter.

How was your week? Were you able to get out and soak in the beauty of Fall?

I have lots to share this week so let’s get to Friday Favorites!

Philly Cheesesteak.

Philly cheesesteak sandwiches are my favorite sandwich! I once went to Philly for the weekend and at them 3 times a day for 3 days, I love everything about them and cannot wait to make them at home.

Beef & Cheese Cannelloni in a white pan and on a white plate.

Beef & Cheese Cannelloni made with  marinara sauce, ground beef, homemade bechamel sauce and more. This looks like a cool weather comfort food.

Chocolate Halloween Marshmallow Spiderweb cake, a scrumptious, albeit messy treat to make for spooky season.

These are the books I currently have on order from Amazon or at the library or have recently read. What are you reading or waiting to be released?

The Garden of Memories.

The Garden of Memories

With nothing but time on her hands, retired nurse Rose Lanyon finds herself drawn to the garden that had once been her husband’s pride and joy.

It may have started as a means of honouring her husband’s memory, but her little Cornish garden soon becomes so much more – a place where the lost and lonely can find solace, the forgotten can be remembered, and second chances take bloom. Because, as long as new life is growing, there will always be hope and new memories to make…

The Book of Witching.

The Book of Witching

Clem gets a call that is every mother’s worst nightmare. Her nineteen-year-old daughter Erin is unconscious in the hospital after a hiking trip with her friends on the remote Orkney Islands that met a horrifying end, leaving her boyfriend dead and her best friend missing. When Erin wakes, she doesn’t recognize her mother. And she doesn’t answer to her name, but insists she is someone named Nyx.

Clem travels the site of her daughter’s accident, determined to find out what happened to her. The answer may lie in a dark secret in the history of the Orkneys: a woman wrongly accused of witchcraft and murder four centuries ago. Clem begins to wonder if Erin’s strange behavior is a symptom of a broken mind, or the effects of an ancient curse?

What Does it Feel Like book cover.

What Does it Feel Like?

Eve is a successful novelist who wakes up one day in a hospital bed with no memory of how she got there. Her husband, never far from her side, explains that she has had an operation to remove the large, malignant tumor growing in her brain.

As Eve learns to walk, talk, and write again—and as she wrestles with her diagnosis, and how and when to explain it to her beloved children—she begins to recall what’s most important to her: long walks with her husband’s hand clasped firmly around her own, family game nights, and always buying that dress when she sees it.

Recounted in brief anecdotes, each one is an attempt to answer the type of impossible questions recognizable to anyone navigating the labyrinth of grief. This short, extraordinary novel is a celebration of life, shot through with warmth and humor—it will both break your heart and put it back together again.

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Fall & Winter Fair Isle Sweater outfir Fashion over 50.

Do you change the colors in your wardrobe according to the seasons? Black is always my go to color in any season but gray is a color that I am drawn to in the Fall and Winter. Perhaps because it is moody just like the weather.

Gray is a neutral in the Fall and winter and can be paired with most any color, red, burgundy, and navy always look great. As does a tone on tone look of grays on gray.

This week’s outfit is just that, a classic skirt paired with boots that are stylish and will keep your feet warm on a cold day along with a white blouse and a fair isle sweater.
