FRIDAY FAVORITES NO. 589
Good morning friends. Happy Friday to you. How was your week?
It has been beautiful here, a little chill in the air in the morning then bright and sunny for the rest of the day. The US Open is in full swing here and there are parties, bands, movies in the park and so much more.
The fun starts in the morning with yoga in the park and ends with a band and a cocktail. We’ve been in and out of the village and the Open taking in the practice rounds and enjoying all of the new faces.
Tonight we are going to a party and then a busy weekend with friends.
What about you? What are you excited for this weekend? A little downtime, a day at the beach?
Ok,enough about me, let’s get to Friday Favorites!

BOOKS
These are the books I currently have on order from Amazon or at the library or have recently read. What are you reading or waiting to be released?

It is spring 1919, and John Sawtelle’s imagination has gotten him into trouble … again. Now John and his newlywed wife, Mary, along with their two best friends and their three dogs, are setting off for Wisconsin’s northwoods, where they hope to make a fresh start—and, with a little luck, discover what it takes to live a life of meaning, purpose, and adventure. But the place they are headed for is far stranger and more perilous than they realize, and it will take all their ingenuity, along with a few new friends—human, animal, and otherworldly—to realize their dreams.
By turns hilarious and heartbreaking, mysterious and enchanting, Familiaris takes readers on an unforgettable journey from the halls of a small-town automobile factory, through an epic midwestern firestorm and an ambitious WWII dog-training program, and far back into mankind’s ancient past, examining the dynamics of love and friendship, the vexing nature of families, the universal desire to create something lasting and beautiful, and of course, the species-long partnership between Homo sapiens and Canis familiaris.

The Funeral Dress
Emmalee Bullard and her new baby are on their own. Or so she thinks, until Leona Lane, the older seamstress who sat by her side at the local shirt factory where both women worked as collar makers, insists Emmalee come and live with her. But just as Emmalee prepares to escape her hardscrabble life in Red Chert Holler, Leona dies tragically.
Grief-stricken, Emmalee decides she’ll make Leona’s burying dress. There are plenty of people who don’t think the unmarried Emmalee should design a dress for a Christian woman–or care for a child on her own–but with every stitch, Emmalee struggles to do what is right for her daughter and to honor Leona the best way she can, finding unlikely support among an indomitable group of seamstresses and the town’s funeral director. In a moving tale exploring Southern spirit and camaraderie among working women, a young mother will compel a town to become a community.

1907. On the eve of her fifth birthday, Poppy Pendleton is tucked safely in her bed, listening to her parents entertain New York’s gilded society in their Thousand Islands castle; the next morning, she is gone, and her father is found dead in his smoking room.
1992. Though Chloe Ridell lives in the shadows of Poppy’s castle, now in ruins, she has little interest in the mystery that still captivates tourists and locals alike. She is focused on preserving the island she inherited from her grandparents and reviving their vintage candy shop. Until the day a girl named Emma shows up on Chloe’s doorstep, with few possessions, save a tattered scrapbook that connects her to the Pendleton family. When a reporter arrives at Chloe’s store, asking questions about her grandfather, Chloe decides to help him dig into a past she’d thought best left buried. The haunting truth about Poppy, they soon discover, could save Emma’s life, so Chloe and Logan must work together to investigate exactly what happened long ago on Koster Isle.
A great gift for dad!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Wether you are at the seaside or in the city, nautical inspired outfits are perfect for summer. White pants paired with a striped shirt is classic and comfortable. Add a pop of color with a pair of yellow leather sandals and a fun bag. If you are not near the sea spritz yourself with a little “beach walk” perfume to bring back memories of walking in the sand with the waves lapping at your feet. Don’t forget your sun glasses!
