GreenRow, the Cambo Estate, Winter Gloves and more on Weekend Meanderings.

WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Good Saturday morning to you friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Juliet and Kim. Join us as we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye this week.
Travel & Life
Goodness it has been a busy, crazy week. I returned home Thursday night after being away for my mother-in-laws funeral. From the minute I landed we were going non-stop; finalizing arrangements, visiting with family and friends from out of town and going through papers and stuff.
My mother-in-law moved in with my sister-in-law over a year ago but she still had a lot of things at the house. Paperwork, letters, furniture, antiques, and all of the other things that were special to her needed to be sorted and arrangements made for their future.
The funeral was a beautiful tribute to a lovely woman. I, and my family, are so blessed to have had Betty in our life. From the very first day I met her over 30 years ago she embraced me and loved me and she did the same for my own family. We all spent many holidays, birthdays and adventures together. I will miss her voice, her smile, her laugh, her love and her guidance.
We are forever indebted to my sister and brother in law for caring for Betty this last year in their home, it was a lot of hard work and a labor of love.

The Renovation
For those that asked about the renovation. Thankfully my sister stepped in and stayed at the house for the last week. She, along with our contractor, handled all of the ups and downs of the project, including delivery of a squished bathtub.
Aside from that and a few minor things this week, the renovation is on schedule and so far going well. As I mentioned last week there were some problems with the structure and a few things that we were going to change that we can’t. So we pivoted and are making the new design work. The electricians were here all day today and will finish Monday. Then the plumbers arrive and then an inspection before the vanity, counter and tub install.
As for the house, it is a disaster! I am not exaggerating when I say that there is only one room untouched by this renovation. There are boxes, books, clothes, furniture, construction supplies and tools everywhere except the kitchen. Thankfully we can still cook and eat in a clean space.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully by the end of November the bathrooms will be finished. After that floors, paint in the bedroom and office and then window treatments and everything back in place. The house will be in disarray for a bit longer but it will be worth it in the end.
Ok, enough about me, let’s meander.
WANDERLUST~The Cambo Estate

A few years ago on a trip to Scotland we headed up to St. Andrews, Fife and stayed at the stunning Cambo House. The Cambo Estate is an amazing country house and garden in Fife, Scotland. Not only is it a is a popular location for films, fashion shoots and commercials it is also a wedding venue and a place to stay and enjoy the beauty of Scotland. I stayed in the room below and loved it! In fact when we stayed there, we were the only people there. The owner gave us a private tour and for a few days we enjoyed this amazing estate all to ourselves.

While there you can visit the Georgian walled gardens, the North Sea, and the beautiful woodlands and maybe take in a round of golf or two at the famous Old Course in St.Andrews.

You can read more about the interesting history of the estate on the website and follow along with them on Instagram for all of their events and tours.
GreenRow~New from Williams Sonoma

Are you familiar with Green Row? I recently read about this new “green” online store from Williams Sonoma and after looking into it here is what I discovered.
GreenRow is home collection, including bedding, furniture, tabletop and lighting. Each piece is sustainably sourced and manufactured. The lights are made from recycled glass, the patchwork quilts are made from the dead stock of other Williams-Sonoma brands products and the rugs are made from the wool of wild sheep in India. The off-cuts from the rugs are used to upholster furniture and the off cuts of the bedding are made into napkins and sheets.

Here are their values:
- We design products to be reused, repaired, and passed down.
- We prioritize innovative and natural materials—including responsibly sourced linen, cotton, wood, and recycled materials.
- We create products free of single-use plastic, and we use third-party certifications to help ensure products are free of harmful chemicals.
- We partner with Fair Trade USA™, Nest’s Ethical Handcraft Program, and others to promote worker well-being across our supply chain.
- We consider the full lifecycle of products—from designing for reuse/repair, to planting a tree for every piece of wood furniture sold, to transitioning to recycled and recyclable packaging.

There are so many beautiful pieces in the collections. I love the painted glass candles made from recycled soda bottles, the pillows made by a collective of women artisans in India, the beautiful hand-painted tableware and the vintage feel of the furniture. Oh by the way, they even have Christmas decor made from recycled paper and fabric!

Winter gloves and scarves

When we went back to Missouri it was cold in the morning and I needed my winter coat and mittens. Mittens and gloves are the perfect stocking stuffer, small gift for St. Nicholas day(December 6th), a hostess gift and office gift for Secret Santa. Just in case you need a new pair or want to gift some I’ve rounded up a few leather, cashmere and embellished mittens and gloves. You can see more in the collage at the bottom of the post along with other things on my radar.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Are you looking for a holiday outfit? I shared this one and lots more, including a great book and movie, on Monday Musings. You can find all of my outfits on LTK so be sure to follow me in case you missed one.

Holiday Hostess gifts were next! There’s something for every event including cookie exchanges, work parties, weekends away and of course for the host of your Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

It’s no secret that I love hot chocolate. Wednesday I shared this hot chocolate board that is great for weekend brunch, holiday movie weekends and holiday guests. Make a vat of hot chocolate and a custom board filled with marshmallows, chocolates, cookies, mints and even your favorite booze for a boozy hot chocolate.

Speaking of a cozy movie night at home, this outfit which I share on Friday Favorites is perfect for that. You can get all of the details for it, as well as, this delicious stuffed acorn squash and all of the books, article and more that I shared.

On My Radar

Elizabeth, I am so sorry for your family. Betty sounds like an amazing women. How nice to have a MIL that is kind and loving. My grandmother always said that hers changed her life with her love.
This had to be a rough week with the reno too. I hope you take time to be good to yourself and do less. Maybe you can go out for Thanksgiving too.
Love the Scottish hotel. So wonderful. Keeping it on my list. Your hot chocolate board was a great idea. How fun for a get together. I also would love to try the baked squash. You make everything look pretty as well as delicious.
xo
Elizabeth, I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. Betty sounds like such a lovely person and I’m glad you were able to be with family and remember her together. It’s truly a blessing to have such a wonderful mother-in-law, I known how much she’ll be missed. Thank goodness for your sister stepping in to keep an eye on your renovation. I know how hard temporary set backs can be, as well as the chaos that surrounds the entire process. It’s especially hard for us homebody’s like us that take so much comfort and gain strength in our (non-chaotic!)homes. The good news is by the end of the month order will be restored and you’ll have two fabulous new bathrooms just in time for the holidays. Hope everything runs smoothly this week … keep your eye on the prize! xo
