WEEKEND MEANDERINGS
Good Saturday morning to you friends. It’s time for Weekend Meanderings with Kim and Juliet! This is our weekly series where we share all of the things that piqued our interests and caught our eye.
Did you have a good week? Are you traveling or do you have family in town? We are home this week, and will be having family for Easter. Today we have a few last minute things to do and I might make one or two dishes ahead of time so that Sunday I am not rushed. Are you ready for Easter?
I finally caved in and purchased a few perennials from the nursery. The last few weeks the deer ate all of the perennial companion plants for my peonies, now I am left with little stubs sticking out of the ground. I am going to replace those plants and add a few more to my front beds and containers.
What about you has it been warm enough to plant anything yet? Speaking of which, if you are looking for perennials this is a great article.
Today I have a new interior designer, a fabulous podcast, a Liberty pop up shop and lots more to share so let’s meander.
One to Follow~Kate Abt Design

Kate Abt is my new favorite designer and like most of the designers I admire, her classic design and collected interiors drew me in. Kate was born in England, then moved to California and now lives in Maryland. Her designs are modern, with vintage elements, furniture, and art. They are cozy and livable not overly styled.

“Growing up surrounded by antique shops, historic homes, and architecture, Kate has learned to infuse these influences and styles with the more current clean and simple design lines of today, creating timeless and classic interiors that feel collated over time, unassuming and welcoming.
Moving out to Southern California in the mid-’90s where she lived for ten years, Kate keyed in on her design passion working for several top design firms before relocating to Maryland where she lives with her husband and daughter. Kate established her own design studio in 2011 and hasn’t looked back since.” ~ Kate Abt

New & Notable Shopping

Jo Malone Scented Mementos Collection
Jo Salon fans did you know that there is a new limited-edition collection inspired by unique pieces filled with memories, found at the British antique market. There are 4 scents you might enjoy.
Ginger Beer
A spicy woody scent inspired by a ginger beer bottle. Nestled on a stall, I spotted this glazed stoneware treasure and reminisced on the vibrant aroma of this quintessentially British beverage. The lively freshness of natural ginger contrasting with the comforting warmth of cinnamon and compelling roasted oak.”
Passiflora Cologne
An ambery floral scent inspired by a botanical illustration of a Passiflora flower. I was flicking through the pages of a first edition book on British botany when this exotic beauty drew me in. The enticing bloom’s striking petals and flamboyant tendrils rendered in full colour. Its cocooning floralcy is enhanced with radiant honeysuckle and completed by the rich almond notes of the tonka bean.
Emerald Thyme Cologne
An aromatic citrus scent inspired by an apothecary bottle. Among a display of glassware in all shades and sizes, this deep green treasure stood out. As I imagined the tincture that it used to contain, a botanical concoction came to mind: a bright burst of lemon is perfectly balanced with sprigs of herbaceous thyme and rosemary, cushioned in moss.
Musk Memento Cologne
A clean musk scent inspired by a ceramic soap dish. I’ve long loved the scent of a traditional soap bar, so when I found this decorative tray, my mind filled with happy memories. The nostalgia and comfort are captured in clean notes of soft musk and aldehyde, a sprinkle of English lavender and elegant cedarwood.
Liberty London
Did you see the Liberty Pop Up Shop at Nordstroms? So many great pieces for your house and wardrobe.
Line Markvardsen

Danish designer Line Markvardsen has always had a passion for beautiful prints, knitwear and workmanship. She graduated from Leeds college of Art and Design in 1998. “Line Markvardsen” – a slow fashion brand that celebrates effortless elegance, with high quality pieces that will stay in your wardrobe for years.
The seaters and dresses are beautiful, they are not inexpensive by any means but they are something that not everyone will be wearing. I am in love with this lily of the valley sweater and several other sweaters and dresses.
You can see the entire collection here.

On My Radar

What cute outfits. Love the sandals.
Thank you Mary Ann!
Happy Easter.
Happy Easter Weekend, Elizabeth! Oh swoon, that Line Markvardsen sweater is a work of art. Stunning. Thanks for the podcast recommendation, I’ve downloaded The Foxed Page and already scoped out the first episode to listen to when I hop on the treadmill later … and suddenly I’m looking forward to it. The treadmill I mean. Kate Ant is another revelation and I’ve been much of her work to my inspiration board for our new project. Enjoy your family time this weekend. xo
Happy Easter Juliet! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend. I loved the Foxed Page and think you will too.
Kates’ designer are so comfy. I cannot wait to see what you are up to next.
Take care, xo
Hi Elizabeth! I feel you with the plant struggles. It takes a long time to see what thrives and doesn’t and I am still learning in my yard too. Too bad there isn’t some sound or something that repels deer? We have that for moles in the front and it works. Good luck with the next bunch.
I love the Kate Ant room with the four chairs! Looks so cozy. The Line M line looks wonderful. Who wouldn’t want that sweet sweater? I love both these outfits. The blue dress is so good for spring!
I hope you have a lovely Easter with your family! xo
P.s Will check out the podcast too
Kim, I think your garden and front yard is looking beautiful with your new furniture and plants. It is a struggle to figure out what works and what doesn’t from one year to the next.
Kant Ant is an amazing designer, that 4 chair room is an inspiration for a room we are working on.
Have a wonderful week Kim!
