MONDAY MUSINGS NO. 115

Good morning friends, it is Easter week otherwise known as Holy Week and it is also Spring break for many. A busy week for all of us.

How was your weekend? It was cold and and miserable here this weekend, actually just Saturday. Sunday it was cold and sunny. The in-between season is always a challenge, don’t you think? My mom had snow this weekend in the Midwest and some friends in New England did as well. How about you? How was your weather?

This weekend we finalized our Easter dinner menu, we are not having ham or turkey, we don’t really like it and neither do our guests. We are serving stuffed pork loin, au gratin potatoes, wild rice, asparagus, Brussel sprouts, salad and dessert. I am not sure yet if I am making dessert or my brother is. If I make anything it will be carrot cake or banana cake.

What are you making or serving? Are you hosting Easter brunch or sharing a meal with family.

Next up +5 things.

Found in a Bookshop

Loveday Cardew’s beloved Lost for Words bookshop, along with the rest of York, has fallen quiet. At the very time when people most need books to widen their horizons, or escape from their fears, or enhance their lives, the doors are closed. Then the first letter comes.

Rosemary and George have been married for fifty years. Now their time is running out. They have decided to set out on their last journey together, without ever leaving the bench at the bottom of their garden in Whitby. All they need is someone who shares their love of books.

Suddenly it’s clear to Loveday that she and her team can do something useful in a crisis. They can recommend books to help with the situations their customers find themselves in: fear, boredom, loneliness, the desire for laughter and escape.

  1. Your Easter menu sounds divine. I love pork loin … and I don’t really love ham or turkey either. Thanks for the nudge to catch up with Ruth. Its so fun to see how her big, happy family celebrates the seasons. And, I’m excited about her Homeworthy partnership. I was going to say Happy Monday, but then I realized I’m reading this on Tuesday. Hope you’re week’s off to a great start. xo
