Monday Musings No. 45

Monday Musings No. 45, a weekend update + 5 Things: what I read, watched, and discovered  this weekend and more.

Good Monday morning musings friends. Happy November! How was your weekend? Did you remember to turn your clocks back? We forgot, although we knew about daylight savings it slipped our mind, thankfully we were not late for anything.

Weekend Update

I think I am getting old friends. Friday we went to a bon fire party and had a fabulous time. By 8:00 I was starting to wain but I persevered until 11, then we got home and I couldn’t fall asleep until around 1.

At 6 am I was up and reading. Needless to say the rest of Saturday I was a complete slug. I don’t really function well on 5 hours of sleep anymore.

I also have something going on with my right eye. I keep getting a clogged tear duct. Once it heals I am fine for a week or two and then it comes back. This weekend it is back and it hurts like heck. Any suggestions are welcome.

Sunday we went for a long walk, and I worked on some Christmas projects. My trees are up and it makes me happy to see the lights and all of my favorite ornaments.

That’s it for me, now onto 5 things.

+5 Things

1.Watched

Downton Abby: A New Era

I loved it! It was fun to see all of my favorite characters again. Not to mention hard to believer how long ago I first watched the series. Are you a fan?

2.Read

Every year at this time I like to pull out one of my old favorites, Little Women. This beautiful book would make a wonderful Christmas gift.

Louisa May Alcott’s classic tale of four sisters in a deluxe hardcover edition, with beautiful cover illustrations by Anna Bond, the artist behind world-renowned stationery brand Rifle Paper Co.

Grown-up Meg, tomboyish Jo, timid Beth, and precocious Amy. The four March sisters couldn’t be more different. But with their father away at war, and their mother working to support the family, they have to rely on one another. Whether they’re putting on a play, forming a secret society, or celebrating Christmas, there’s one thing they can’t help wondering: Will Father return home safely?

Amazon has entered a partnership with What Goes Around Comes Around to sell pre-owned items from many of the luxury brands that declined to sell on the site.

4. Finds

plaid blazer

Anthropologie has so many beautiful holiday outfits. I love this plaid blazer,  this skirt, and this embroidered blouse.

Woodland Animas

I have been searching for “woodland” animals and toadstool ornaments this year. Have you found any cute ones?

Small Business

Did you know that Amazon has a small business section? And that you can shop women owned, black owned, and military owned businesses? If not take a look and shop small this year! There are toys, games, foodie gifts, beauty gifts and almost anything that you can think of.

F&M Advent Calendar

Fortnum & Mason

You already know that I love advent calendars, I  wrote about them a few weeks ago but I forgot to mention the incredibly special(splurge) calendars from Fortnum & Mason. I love the wooden house and the tea calendar!

The tea calendar is wood and every years you can replenish the tea.

F&M christmas tea in green and red with gold canister.

If you like F&M and don’t want to order from overseas you can still find a few things here. I am partial to the Christmas tea.

Speaking of advent calendars, did you know that  Bon Maman has a mini advent calendar? They also have limited edition preserves, I tried the Cranberry Cherry Preserves and the chestnut and they are both delicious! Check your local store.

  1. I must be getting old too because it’s taking me longer to recuperate from the time change, lol!!! I love all things, Downton Abby, including both movies! Thanks for sharing so many interesting links! Have a great week!

  2. as I got older I found that if I stayed up even 5 min later than my 11pm sleep time I can’t fall asleep for hours. Figure out you sleep time window and maybe that will help. My husband will put a movie on at 9:30 and I’m like, “nope.” My eye dr told me to keep a travel sized bottle of Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo in the shower and scrub my lash line with it on a qtip. Solved my tear duct blockage issue. Just found your blog and am enjoying it already.

    1. Pamela, first, WELCOME! I am so happy that you found me. Second, thank you for the J&J advice. I am going o try this and hope it works. I really appreciate you taking the time to share this cure.
