Need a little Easter egg inspiration? Here are 15 ways to decorate Easter eggs using paint, dye, stickers and more.

Easter traditions are one of the things that make Easter special. Easter baskets, the Easter bunny, egg hunts and of course easter egg coloring. Here are 15 of my favorite Easter Egg Decorating Ideas.
Decorating Easter eggs is the perfect way start a new tradition and to get your family and your Easter guests together. Set up little stations to make all sorts of beautiful Easter eggs using different techniques to get various colors and patterns.
I realize that fresh eggs are expensive but you can always decorate fewer eggs or use white plastic or paintable eggs that are available at Target, Amazon or local craft store. Another suggestion, make egg shaped sugar cookies and decorate them with frosting!
15 Ways to Decorate Your Easter Eggs
1. Decoupage Eggs

This method uses plastic eggs, not real eggs. You simply gather your supplies, white plastic eggs, Mod podge and pieces of paper napkins. Glue them on in any pattern that you like, you cannot do it wrong.
2. DIY Silk Tie Eggs

Raid your husbands’ closet or head to the local thrift store for some old silk ties. Cut scraps from the ties, wrap them around white eggs, secure with twine and then wrap in white cloth. Dip into a bath of vinegar and water.
3. Marbled Easter Eggs

This method is similar to the one I used to make Christmas ornaments as it uses nail polish. All you need is nail polish, water and faux eggs.
4. Golden Speckled Eggs

5. Naturally dyed Easter Eggs

You can dye eggs with natural dyes. Your kitchen is full of things to use, like red cabbage, onion skins, coffee filters. All you need is hard-boiled eggs and bowls of dye. I used red cabbage to dye the blue eggs in the photo above.
6. Washi Tape Eggs

All you need is a wooden egg or foam egg and washi tape to make these eggs.
7. Tie Dyed Easter Eggs

A hardboiled egg, paper towel, different colors of food coloring and plastic wrap are the things you need to make these colorful eggs.
8. Old Fashioned Speckled Easter Eggs

Place eggs into a cup with dried beans, or uncooked rice, a little food coloring and swirl.
9. Cool Whip Easter Eggs

Does it get any easier or sweeter than cool whipped dyed easter eggs? Gather your supplies, Cool Whip, eggs, vinegar, gel food coloring and paper towels and get ready for some sweet fun and beautiful eggs.
10. Rubber Band Easter Eggs

Wrap rubber bands around the egg, then submerge in dye. Wait for the dyed egg to dry then remove the rubber bands.
12..Temporary tattoo Easter Eggs

This is an easy Easter egg idea, you simply add temporary tattoos to the eggs.
13. Polka Dot Eggs

Glue dot stickers on the eggs, or paint polka dots on the eggs using bright colors, pasted colors or a combination of the two.

Using water color paint start with you lightest shade and move down your color palette without rinsing your brush in between

Dye your eggs, cover in gold leaf, brush some of it off and polish.
How to use decorated Easter eggs?

An inspiring collection of eggs and techniques. We wrap our eggs in antique lace and then dye them with brown onion skins – a tradition that has been passed down through the German lineage of our family.
Fröhliche Ostern.
Happy April, Elizabeth! What a great story about your grandmother and her twin – no doubt your great grandfather thought someone was fooling him! I don't decorate eggs any more, but these are so beautfiul they almost inspire to do some just for fun! xoxo
Love this post! Thanks for all the great ideas and pictures.
The blue and white ones really catch my eye.
Dear dear friend, HELLO! These are happy eggs and I can't wait for Easter; we go to the lake to see the sun rise, praise and pray, read the bible and read poetry. I can't think of any other way to spend it, but of course later, some eggs are fun to decorate and eat!
I hope you are well! LOVE TO YOU! ANita
Oh this has definitely put me in the mood for an Easter celebration!
